Man, 40, appears in court charged with murder of missing mum Claire Holland, who vanished 10 years ago | The Sun

A MAN has appeared in court charged with murdering a missing mum who vanished ten years ago.

Claire Holland, 32, was last seen leaving Seamus O'Donnell's pub in Bristol on June 6, 2012.

Despite a number of searches and appeals for information, Claire has not been seen or heard from since.

Darren Osment, 40, appeared at Bristol Magistrates' Court today charged with murder.

Members of Claire's family sat in the public gallery as shaven-headed Osment spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth and address.

He is accused of murdering Claire between June 5 and June 8, 2012.

The mum was not captured after arriving at the pub but staff confirmed she left just after closing time at around 11.15pm.

Brits were celebrating the Queen's Diamond Jubilee at the time.

Claire is described as white, around 5ft tall of a small build with shoulder-length brown hair that is often tied in a ponytail.

She was last seen wearing black trousers, a short-sleeved black top with a grey t-shirt underneath and was also carrying a cream-coloured Primark re-usable carrier bag.

Ben Samples, Senior District Crown Prosecutor with the CPS South West Complex Casework Unit, said: "The Crown Prosecution Service has authorised Avon and Somerset Police to charge Darren Osment, aged 40, with one count of murder.

"The authority to charge follows a complex investigation by the Major Crime Investigation Team, which was supported by the Complex Casework Unit.

"An extensive review of all the evidence gathered has led us to conclude that our legal tests to commence a prosecution have been met."
