Man, 43, charged with murder of Sheffield woman Emily Sanderson found dead in house 10 days after going missing | The Sun

A MAN has been charged with murder after a missing woman was found dead in a house two weeks after she was last seen.

Emily Sanderson, 48, was found dead with "head injuries" at a house in Hillsborough, Sheffield, on Tuesday.

Cops have now charged a man, 43, with her murder after he was arrested on Friday.

A 40-year-old woman, arrested on May 31 on suspicion of assisting offenders, is still on bail.

Emily was "reported missing" to cops on May 25 after not being "seen or heard from" for six days.

Her body was then tragically found earlier this week and a forensic post mortem confirmed her cause of death was "head injuries".

Cops stressed that Emily's family is receiving support from specially trained officers and have asked for their privacy to be respected.

Detective Chief Inspector Andrea Bowell said: “The property where Emily’s body was found, has undergone painstaking and extensive forensic examination.

"This is necessary to gather as much evidence as possible to help us understand exactly what happened.

“Now we have been able to establish Emily’s identity, I’d urge anyone who may have information to come forward.

"Emily was reported missing to police on Thursday 25 May, after she had not been seen or heard from since the previous Friday (19 May).

“We’d therefore be keen to hear from anyone who may be able to tell us more about Emily’s movements since 19 May, whether they saw her or spoke with her, as that information could be incredibly important to our investigation.”

The force has referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct following the incident.
