Martin Lewis' MSE reveals little-known way to get half price food at restaurants including Pizza Hut and Domino's | The Sun

MARTIN Lewis' MoneySavingExpert has revealed a little-known way to get half-price food at popular restaurants.

If you fancy a pizza for half the price, a popular deal could help you to get up to 50% off your favourite dish.

In its latest newsletter, MoneySavingExpert (MSE) revealed how you can eat out on a budget without having to forfeit eating at your favourite restaurants.

Signing up to a Tastecard membership through a special link in the newsletter, you can get a 90-day membership for free.

The card allows you to get two-for-one dishes, or up to 50% off, at plenty of restaurants across the country.

All you need to do is sign up through the link and create an account.

You should then download the Tastecard app – available on Apple and Android – and enter your username and password.

The deal is available to people who are new to Tastecard or those who haven't had a trial in the last year.

But MSE is warning that you will be asked to enter card details and enrolled into an automatic £2.99 a month unless you cancel before.

This is a discount rate for signing up through the link – a monthly membership usually costs £5.99.

You can cancel your membership online or by contacting customer service at any time during the trial.

Tastecards are accepted at many restaurants across the UK, including:

  • Prezzo
  • Zizzi
  • Pizza Hut
  • Bella Italia
  • Ask Italian
  • Domino's
  • Burger King
  • Ed's Easy Diner
  • Giraffe
  • Cafe Rogue
  • Banana Tree

You normally have to pay £1 for a 90-day trial. You can try it out to see how much you save.

If you find you don’t want to keep it, you can cancel at least a few days before the 90 days is up to avoid it automatically being renewed for £39.99 a year.

How else can I save on eating out?

When you buy insurance or another qualifying deal at Compare the Market, you can sign up for Meerkat Meals on its app.

This offers 50% off pizzas from Domino’s, Papa Johns and Pizza Hut Deliver when you spend £30.

You can also get money off at pubs and restaurants including Ember Inns, Prezzo and Toby Carvery.

Membership schemes like Kids Pass or Little Bird both offer savings on meals as well as days out.

Little Bird is offering £1 membership for a month, which then renews into £3.49 per month.

You can cancel any time.

Kids Pass also offers a first month for £1, then renews at £4.99 a month until you cancel.

Note that with that deal, you’ll end up paying £59.88 a year if you don’t cancel, and there is cheaper annual membership for £39.99.

Some meal offers run in term time too.

Kids eat for £1 or £1.50 at Hungry Horse pubs on Mondays, including bank holidays.

At Dunelm’s cafes, children eat free from 3pm when an adult spends £4.

Sizzling Pubs gives youngsters £1 meals with an adult main meal.

Kids eat free at Morrisons cafe when an adult spends £4.49, while at Asda, children eat for £1.
