Melania breaks radio silence with Happy Easter tweet – her first social media post for a MONTH – as the ex-First Lady enters a 10th day without being seen in public after Trump’s indictment
- Melania Trump broke her silence with a simple ‘Happy Easter!’ tweet on Sunday, her first social media post in a month
- The former first lady had been notably absent from events since March 30, when her husband was indicted on charges of falsifying business records
- She had not posted on social media since March 9
Melania Trump has officially broken her radio silence with a Happy Easter tweet, her first social media post in a month.
The former first lady has been notably absent from the spotlight since March 30, the night her husband, Donald Trump, was indicted on charges of falsifying business records in relation to hush money payments he allegedly made to porn star Stormy Daniels and a former doorman.
Since that event 10 days ago, Melania has seemed to have vanished into thin air.
She was not in New York City last week to support her husband as he faced the charges in court, nor was she seen at the former President’s homecoming back in Florida later that night, when he shouted out each of his children — but made no mention of Melania.
Melania also had not posted on her official Twitter page since March 9, until her tweet on Sunday with a simple ‘Happy Easter!’ message and a picture of a pink rose.

Melania has not been seen in public since March 30 – the evening it was announced Trump was going to be indicted by Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg
Previous reports have indicated that Melania will stand by her husband, despite lingering anger at her husband for the hush money he allegedly paid to porn star Stormy Daniels to quiet a one night stand she claims they had, which Trump denies.
Melania was not, however, by his side when he handed himself over to authorities last Tuesday when he pleaded not guilty to 34 felony charges, nor was she there at his rally at Mar-a-Lago in the aftermath.
Three of Trump’s five children – Don Jr, Eric and Tiffany – sat in the front row with their significant others: Kimberly Guilfoyle, Lara Trump, and Michael Boulos at the rally.
But Melania Trump, his wife of 18 years, and Ivanka Trump, his eldest and some say, favorite child, were noticeably absent.
Ivanka has said she’s done with politics, and wishes to concentrate on raising her son and daughter with husband Jared Kushner, who was recently treated for thyroid cancer.
Trump’s youngest son Barron was also missing, but the 17-year-old, who is still in high school, rarely makes public appearances with the rest of the family.
Curiously, Viktor Knavs, Melania’s father, sat between the former president’s two sons in the front row, a prominent perch that put him directly in the eye of the cameras.
It’s unclear why the former first lady wasn’t there, but sources told DailyMail.com she is hurt and angry about the allegations that Trump had an affair with porn star Stormy Daniels as she faces up to a year and a half of having her dirty laundry aired out in public as the New York criminal case drags on.

Nonetheless, Melania’s no-show came in stark contrast to last week, when a picture emerged of the couple together with friends at Trump’s Palm Beach resort, despite the recent news of his indictment and imminent arrest.
This is not the first time Melania has gone missing in action.
In January 2018, days after Trump’s alleged affair with Stormy Daniels was outed by The Wall Street Journal, the First Lady cancelled plans to accompany her husband to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
She blamed ‘scheduling and logistical issues’ at the time.
Melania was also not there to play the supportive political wife when her embattled husband travelled to New York on Tuesday to face a judge and hear the 34 charges
Those who know the former first lady well now say that she is choosing to stay out of the spotlight to protect herself from the news of her husband’s infidelity.
Before the indictment was announced last week, a source told PEOPLE that Melania, 52, ‘is leading her own life’ and ‘still feels happy’ at Mar-a-Lago, but ‘remains angry and doesn’t want to hear’ about the alleged $130,000 in hush money to Daniels.
And Lauren Wright, a political scientist at Princeton University, told DailyMail.com she is ‘not surprised Melania was nowhere to be found at her husband’s post-indictment speech.
‘Throughout Trump’s presidency, when the Stormy Daniels issue came up, Melania would assert her independence in one way or another, either avoiding the topic or, most famously, contradicting those who claimed to know her feelings about the alleged extramarital dalliance,’ she noted.
Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, a former aide and friend, also said she believes that Melania’s recent silence and disappearance from the scene is deliberate.
‘It’s her weapon of choice and her protective armor,’ she says.
As for whether she will be at her husband’s side again if he wins the Republican nomination for the upcoming American election, no one is sure.
‘Everything that I’ve been told is that she wants no part of the 2024 presidential cycle and the campaigning she’d have to do,’ says Myra Gutin, president of the First Ladies Association for Research and Education.
‘She has not been with Trump at his rallies thus far and I don’t think she was ever particularly happy in the White House so, yes, I can see her being less than enthusiastic about any of this.’
