Miss Scotland drunkenly ejected from boozy rugby event amid claims bouncer racially abused | The Sun

THIS is the moment the reigning Miss Scotland was thrown out of a boozy rugby do amid claims a bouncer was racially abused.

Reigning Scottish beauty queen Lucy Thomson was ejected from the Edinburgh City 7s tournament after being involved in a 'disturbance' on Saturday night.

The 24-year-old, from Dunfermline, who was crowned Miss Scotland in July last year, was chucked out of the ground amid claims that a member of security was racially abused.

A video shows two women being dragged across a rugby pitch by bouncers at the annual rugby event at the weekend.

The pair can be seen struggling and shouting at security while they are being hoisted out.

A source told the Daily Record: "She was saying 'do you know who I am, I'm Miss Scotland, my dad has loads of money'."

Security firm MK Event Services, who provided staff at the event on Saturday, said: "Given there is a live police investigation, it would be inappropriate to comment at this time."

The two-day festival, which features DJs, a beer tent and food stalls, has been held at the University of Edinburgh's 27-acre sports ground since 2018.

Police confirmed they were called out to reports of a "hate crime" incident on Saturday night.

Miss Scotland organisers say they are now investigating the allegations.

The licence holders for the beauty event came under fire after releasing a post encouraging entrants to apply for the 2023 title the day after the alleged incident.

Angry pageant supporters demanded they strip Ms Thomson of her title and address the claims.

One said: "You simply MUST release a statement. If there is any grain of truth whatsoever to these allegations you cannot be seen to have supported such behaviour."

Another added:"Remove her crown and title or Miss Scotland isn’t going to mean sh** any more.”

The Fife beauty has since locked down all her public social media accounts.

Scottish Fashion Association, which the pageant queen founded last year, released a statement saying they are taking it "exceptionally seriously".

They said: "SFA are aware of the incident on June 17 2023. We are treating this matter exceptionally seriously, and will provide an update in due course.

"We are currently responding to each and every message."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 9pm on Saturday, 17 June, 2023, we received a report of a disturbance and a hate crime at Peffermill Road in Edinburgh.

"Enquiries are ongoing."
