Video shows the moment speed tape fell off a British Airways plane this afternoon, prompting Gatwick Airport to close the runway for four minutes.

Cameras captured as the strip of tape – which is used as a temporary fix for damaged aircraft – flew off of the plane during take-off in London.

The plane continued its journey to Alicante, Spain and there ‘was no disruption to any flights,’ an airport spokesperson has confirmed.

Officials say the runway was closed from 1.07pm until 1.11pm while crews cleared the debris from the fallen speed tape.
