A historic waterfront home with spectacular sunset views and its own private jetty has gone on the market for £1m after previously being semi-derelict.

Old Pier House is an impressive Grade II Listed property in Wales that has been a mail hub, military depot and cafe in its 190-year history.

The charming property is at Pembroke Dock in Pembrokeshire in an unique location, with its main attraction being the glorious views over the water.

The current owners have carried out a labour of love to transform the building that was once nearing ruin into an impressive family home.

Positioned directly on the water, an historic Grade II listed property is on the market for £1million  in Pembroke Dock in Pembrokeshire

The newly renovated home boasts a huge and jaw-dropping view across the estuary

The patio provides an ideal seating area to take in the impressive views of the waterway and the spectacular sunsets

The main bedroom area is a stunning space with feature fireplace and two large windows looking straight out at the water

The dining room has a double sided wood burner, artwork and a custom made dining table to the fill the space

The rear and side walls in the kitchen have been entirely glazed to offer panoramic views and bifold doors lead out to a waterside terrace to make the most of the setting.

The property was built in the 1830s. It was a hub for the Irish mail service when it first opened in 1834 and then later in the 19th century it became a military depot for the Royal Engineers.

The Admiralty took over the building and used the area to fit out Navy warships until the Royal Dockyard closed in 1926.

The property has some striking features including the massive double entrance doors and custom made cast iron staircase.

The house has 3,616 sq ft of accommodation with a family room/snug, dining room, lounge, kitchen and a games room currently kitted out with a golf simulator on the ground floor.

The rear and side walls of the room are entirely glazed and offer panoramic views of the waterway with access to the patio through a set of bifold doors to the side

The family bathroom offers a freestanding roll top bath beneath the window with a lavatory and double hand basin

To the side of the living room is a short hallway and the ground floor shower room with exposed original stonework

The house’s huge double doors open into the luxurious central living room which also benefits from the log burner

The property was renovated by Craig Kidney and Bethan Roberts, Bethan told Wales Online: ‘My favourite feature in the house is the double-sided log burner, and I love being able to entertain in that room with the main living room and dining room open-plan – Christmas is my favourite time of year and I love being able to host Christmas Day for 16 around the table.’

The house also boasts a games room with its own bar that can even be used to practice your golf swing with the golf simulator – although any potential owners could turn this room into a playroom or home office.

Upstairs there is a master bedroom suite with an en suite bathroom and a large dressing room or office area and a walk-in closet, and three further double bedrooms and a family bathroom.

James Skudder, director of Country Living Group, said: ‘Old Pier House is a property that has had one of the most amazing transformations I have seen in a long time.

‘The breath-taking home that it comprises today will leave you lost for words as soon as you enter.

‘That coupled with the stunning waterside position and the staggering sunsets that set over the estuary to the rear, is truly one of the most unique homes you will find in Pembrokeshire.’
