We're being driven mad by an M&S car park alarm that NEVER turns off – we can't sleep and no one will stop it | The Sun

FUROUS residents are being driven "insane" living next to an M&S car park alarm that rings 24/7.

The faulty parking siren, at the supermarket on London Road, Sevenoaks, has been keeping outraged locals up day and night.

After the alarm was triggered on Saturday it rang non-stop for 24 hours – and this is not the first time.

George Hargreaves lives next to the car park, and the furious resident complained the noise haunts him long after it stops.

The 22-year-old told Kent Online: "It gets to the point when it drives you insane.

"I’ve got ADHD and am quite sensitive to noise, and so I was supposed to be working from home on Sunday and I couldn’t.

"Hours after it stopped I could still hear it inside my head, trying to sleep was an absolute nightmare and it’s just a total disregard of public safety.

The distressed actor tried calling the car park help number over 30 times with no success – and they ultimately blocked his number.

Another disgraced local, Mr Hargreaves, even resorted to phoning emergency services to put a stop to the alarm.

But the video editor said: "They never came, the company is impossible to contact, and at 11:30pm at night there isn’t any way of gaining access to the car park for us to even see if there is an actual fire.

"And of course unless it’s going up in flames emergency services can’t really do anything about it.

"It continued throughout the day and in the morning someone came to open the car park, they opened the shutters and then left.

"The company number displayed around the car park doesn’t actually put you through to anyone and all calls don’t get transferred once you’ve passed the call option menu."

He explained there was no number for the car park security when he tried to find one.

The car park is not owned by M&S, but is run by Smart Parking Ltd.

A Smart Parking spokesman said: "A smoke detector fault triggered the alarm. We notified the maintenance company immediately, but it took them until the following day to fix the system.

"Although this was an isolated incident, we are obviously unhappy about it and would like to apologise to anyone effected.

"We would like to also reassure residents that the system is fully maintained and inspected annually."

This comes as neighbours living in Lansdowne Place in Brighton, East Sussex, have blasted one driver for letting his car alarm sound for "10 hours" straight.

Raging residents left threatening notes on the black Audi and reported the ignorant driver to the council.

One note read: "I can hear this Audi every day."

Another insisted "nobody is breaking into you s**t car" in a baffled response to the piercing alarm.

Someone else threatened to "kick and punch" the vehicle in a carefully typed out message stuck to the windscreen.

Elsewhere in the UK, one family have been haunted for 13 years by the constant ringing of an alarm clock.
