Mystery as twenty bags of human remains found in hidden grave in Mexico | The Sun

POLICE have launched an investigation after TWENTY bags of human remains were found by search teams in Mexico.

The horrifying discovery was made by members of the Search Mothers Collectives of Jalisco and Sonor in the municipality of Tlajomulco de Zúñiga, Jalisco.


Group founder, Cecilia Flores, said the bloody bags were found in a hidden grave after the group were called to a house in a subdivision of the city known as Arvento.

At a property called La Piedrera, search teams discovered 20 different sacks.

According to Borderland Beat, the remains included six separate skulls.

Ms Flores told the outlet: "There are more than 20 bags, but many were buried.

“We don't know how many bodies are involved, but we were able to see six skulls among the bags.”

Reports suggest the collective were alerted to the site by a series of anonymous tips on social media.

It unknown how many different remains were discovered by the group.

In a tweet, Ms Flores said “In Jalisco today we find human remains. We had no support from any government to mobilize and we had to do it with our own resources. Thanks to the families who contributed.”

The group’s latest find comes just months after Mexico recorded more than 100,000 missing people – a figure that stretches back since official records began.

According to Wola, a human rights charity, relatives of Mexico’s disappearance victims have turned to groups, such as the Search Mothers Collectives, in the hope of finding their loved ones.

Deadly cartel violence across the country has been among the factorscited with the country engulfed by drug violence.

At the heart or proceedings is the notorious Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), whose ruthless rise to global dominance has left an appalling history of bodies and screams in its wake.

Members have reportedly ripped out victims' hearts and dissolved their bodies in barrels of acid.

Members of the media and even pregnant women have also been among those targeted.

Founded in 2009, the CJNG is now considered the most dangerous and powerful cartel in Mexico.
