Video captured the moment a paddle boarder slipped and went flying into the water despite being just inches away from the safety of a canal bank.
Hairdresser Chelsea Read, 34, from Chelmsford, Essex, was trying out paddle boarding for the first time.
After nearly making it to the end of her session unscathed, she approaches the bank only to fly off as the board stops suddenly.
Losing her balance – and an unsuccessful attempt to scramble off the board – Chelsea screams in panic before bursting into laughter as she falls into the water of Paper Mill Lock.
The fall was all caught on camera by Chelsea’s mother, who was left in hysterics as Chelsea was submerged into five-foot-deep water.

The video of Chelsea taken by her mum went viral after it was shared by their family and friends
She said: ‘I mostly escaped any injury, aside from hurting my toe and swallowing a lot of water!’
Chelsea said: ‘I was coming in from the water and didn’t realise when the board hits the wall it stops dead, and I lost my balance.
‘As I fell my thoughts were, I’m going in, and I was more worried about the big carp I saw five minutes before!
‘My family and friends can’t stop sharing and watching the video – I’ve had a lot of messages.
‘I mostly escaped any injury, aside from hurting my toe and swallowing a lot of water!’
