Putin to deploy deadly warship with ‘unstoppable’ hypersonic missiles next month

Vladimir Putin has declared that a new warship armed with "unstoppable" hypersonic missiles will enter combat in January.

Today (Wednesday, December 21), the Russian President addressed defence chiefs for an end-of-year meeting to assess their campaign in Ukraine.

The despot vowed that Moscow would fulfil its military goals in Ukraine and promised to give his armed forces anything they asked for to achieve that.

As part of this, he announced that a new Admiral Gorshkov-class frigate – the newest class of Russian warship – will be launched into combat next month carrying Zircon missiles.

The nuclear-capable weapon has been developed over at least four years and is able to strike locations 620miles away, travelling at a speed of 7,000mph.

Putin previously bragged that the missiles can travel five times faster than those being developed in America.

He said following a test earlier this year: "This is not just a hypersonic, this is an intercontinental missile.

"This is a much more serious weapon than you just said. And they are already on alert in Russia.

"Weapons with a speed of Mach 3 or more are being developed in the United States. Our systems fly at a speed of over Mach 20."

Putin also said today that Russia's hypersonic Sarmat missile – dubbed Satan-2 – would be ready for deployment in the near future.

The terrifying weapon is capable of carrying 10 nuclear warheads at one time.

Worryingly, it can carry those warheads over 3,700miles – putting the UK well within striking range from Russian soil.

It was last test-fired in April, with Putin watching on via video link from northern Russia.

He boasted at the time that the 15,880mph intercontinental ballistic missile will make Russia's enemies "think twice".
