Queen’s granddaughter working minimum wage summer job before heading to uni

Customers at a garden centre store got the shock of their lives as they were greeted by Lady Louise Windsor, the granddaughter of the Queen.

Lady Louise has been working in the near minimum wage role this summer as she waited for her A Level results which came in on Thursday (August 17), confirming her place at St Andrews University, where she'll go on to study English.

The summer job, worth £6.83 an hour, included tasks such as helping out on the tills, greeting customers as well pruning and potting plants.

Her parents Prince Edward and Sophie Wessex reside in a £30million mansion in Bagshot Park, Surrey, as she rejected the chance to become a working member of the Royal Family when she turned 18 last November.

According to one stunned shopper who was served by the teenager, she seemed to relish her role at the garden centre.

She said: “I couldn’t believe it was Lady Louise — I had to look twice.

"She is a really modest and sweet young woman who is polite and attentive to customers. She seemed to be loving the job.

“You’d never imagine the Queen’s grand-daughter would take on a role working behind a till.”

As she gets ready for university next month, its reported that Louise studied A-levels in English, history, politics and drama.

Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine, said: “Isn’t it wonderful the Queen’s granddaughter rolled her sleeves up and got her hands dirty with a summer job before going to university — just like any other normal teenager."

When receiving her results yesterday at Balmoral, she was with her family and the Queen.
