Queen’s net worth when she died and the huge fortune King Charles now inherits

King Charles III is set to inherit the Queen's vast fortune following her death last week and reportedly won't pay inheritance tax on the cash.

But how much was Her Majesty actually worth?

According to the Guardian, the Queen managed to change British law in the 1970s meaning her wealth would remain a secret from the public, deeming it "embarrassing" – meaning an accurate figure isn't readily available.

However the Queen's private portfolio is estimated to be around the £426million mark according to the Sunday Times Rich List.

Her personal wealth, according to Forbes, was made through investments, art, jewels, and real estate.

While estimates may float around online, the late monarch's true net worth has never been disclosed and it's unlikely that it ever will.

According to Forbes, King Charles III is set to inherit the majority of the Queen’s fortune and reportedly won't pay tax on the earnings.

Meanwhile Forbes estimates that the Firm as a whole is worth about $28billion (just over £24bn), and is split between four categories.

Their most valuable official holding is the £16.7bn Crown Estate, which includes a collection of properties including luxurious London homes.

The second is the Duchy of Cornwall, which is set to be passed on to Prince William, is also a lucrative source of wealth for the Royals, worth an estimated £1.2bn.

The Duchy currently owns legendary cricket ground The Oval in south London, farmland in southern England, office space in London, holiday homes rentals and even a supermarket depot.

The real estate portfolio spans 130,000 acres – nearly the size of Chicago – and generates millions in revenue every year.

The next major pot of money is the Duchy of Lancaster, worth just shy of £1bn and owned by whoever is on the throne.

The final pot is the Firm's private wealth – something that has been kept a secret from the public, making it impossible to estimate the family's true fortune.
