Ridiculous moment greedy Brits are caught filming 'STAGED fall from mobility scooter in bid to claim compensation' | The Sun

THIS is the ridiculous moment two greedy British tourists were allegedly caught staging a fall in a brazen bid to claim compensation.

The pair, understood to be mother and daughter, were spotted carrying out the carefully choreographed fall on CCTV in Marmaris, Turkey.

The older woman was seen placing her mobility scooter at the top of a staircase and begins to "trip" as the other woman waits at the bottom to film it.

The woman who "fell" then dramatically splays herself out and yells for help.

Her daughter then stops filming and appears to tell her to get up before quickly taking a snap of her mum lying on the floor pretending to be hurt.

Neither of the women in the shocking clip have been identified.

The footage sparked fury among Turkish hotel owners – who claimed more and more Brits are using devious tactics to claim compensation on their holidays.

Some hotel owners alleged British tourists have even placed bugs in their room before complaining of stomach aches.

Brits can claim hundreds or even thousands from their travel agent if they suffer an injury or fall ill on holiday.

And using a loophole in UK law, the travel agents can hand over their court fees to the hotel deemed responsible for the injury or illness.

Musa Evin, from Istanbul Chamber of Commerce, branded British travel agencies' practices "unfair".

He told Turkey Gazette: "Not only do they claim a free trip, but they leave with more money in their pockets than they came with."

Mr Evin called for action otherwise "the facilities of our country will continue to be sold for nothing, and our per capita income will stay the same".

Turkish Hoteliers Federation chair Bulent Bulbuloglu said hotels had started using "detective skills" to catch the crafty tourists – including setting up cameras "everywhere".

He said: "If a tourist claims they fell ill from eating hotel food, they have reports on the state of the food and state of other customers who consumed the same food.
