Watch incredible moment Russian soldier is shot in the head by a sniper’s bullet but survives and then shrugs: ‘Yeah, I must be alive’
- Wagner mercenary fighter was hit in the head by a Ukrainian sniper’s bullet
- Russian soldier and his comrades could not believe his close brush with death
Unbelievable footage shows the moment a Russian fighter cheated death as he was hit in the head by a sniper’s bullet.
The fighter – from the pro-Putin Wagner paramilitary group – is struck by the bullet as he stands up, before nonchalantly telling his fellow troops that he ‘must be alive’.
As his comrades take cover behind a destroyed wall, the man’s head could clearly be seen by the sniper as he stood in his line of sight.
The bullet ricochets off the Go-Pro camera on his helmet, leaving him temporarily dazed and confused in the heart of the war zone in Bakhmut, said a report.
The force of the bullet floors him and takes the camera clean off – but had it been an inch lower the soldier would have been killed instantly.
Another Russian soldier, clearly amazed at his colleague’s brush with death, says: ‘Lucky man’.
‘Come on, back off, back off,’ a fighter then shouts, trying to get the man to a safer place.
They then ask him, clearly in disbelief themselves, ‘Are you alive?’
‘Yeah, must be alive,’ she says shrugging, clearly not believing his luck.
A voice can then be heard shouting warnings that the squadron is in eyeshot of Ukrainian defenders.
‘A sniper is working! A sniper is working!’ one soldier is heard saying.
The video was caught by a RIA Novosti correspondent who was accompanying the Russian invaders on manoeuvres.

It comes after analysts and Russian officials said on Friday that the battle for Bakhmut is heating up again.
For eight and a half months, the eastern Ukrainian city has been the stage for the war’s longest and bloodiest fight.
‘Russia has re-energized its assault’ on Bakhmut, the UK Ministry of Defense said of recent developments.
