School kids drop like flies as ‘100 poisoned with food laced with cocaine’

A high school campus descended into chaos after dozens of students aged 12-15 began dropping like flies, before it was revealed that at least 56 of them were on cocaine and methamphetamine.

Reports in Mexico suggested that parents rushed to the high school and literally lifted their kids and brought them to hospital flung over their shoulders. Up to 100 kids could be affected in total.

The incident unfolded at Juana de Asbaje secondary school in the municipal seat of Bochil in the state of Chiapas.

Dozens of students were taken to the IMSS Field Clinic where toxicological tests were performed, and were unsurprisingly positive. It is thought their food may have been laced with the drugs.

One student was reportedly seriously ill and he was transferred to a special part of a nearby hospital.

Experts from the State Attorney General's Office arrived at the scene to start an investigation into how the drugs got on campus.

Excelsior in Mexico reported that "the teachers and directors of the school have kept silent about it".

Some students arrived at the hospital completely unconscious and on the shoulders of their parents, the title reported, adding that others managed to get there on foot.

Other reports suggested that the kids became intoxicated because they consumed drug-laced water yesterday afternoon, Friday, October 7.

A video shared on Twitter by journalist Janosik Garcia shows the panicked scene inside the school as parents and emergency services personnel tend to the children, some of whom are visibly high.

His minute-long video shows children being carried by parents who rush through the school corridors looking for help, while some close ups depict the horror in the children's faces.

He said their food may have been laced and some of them are now in comas.

"Mass intoxication of students by cocaine in Chiapas. They report more than 100 affected, some of them in a coma. It is presumed that the drug was in the food they ate," he wrote.

Tabasco Al Minuto reported that 110 children were affected, the source of their food being the food in the cafeteria.
