There is currently a ‘broad threat’ to a number of synagogues in New Jersey, the FBI warned.
The bureau said on Thursday afternoon that they were aware of a threat to Jewish places of worship – and that those in danger should call the police.
They said that they received ‘credible information’ leading to the news alert.
Locals in New Jersey should ‘stay alert’ and be vigilant within their communities, as the FBI said they will share more information as soon as they can.
The FBI added that they are taking proactive measures while their investigative processes are carried out.

The FBI said on Thursday afternoon: ‘The FBI has received credible information of a broad threat to synagogues in NJ.
‘We ask at this time that you take all security precautions to protect your community and facility.
‘We will share more information as soon as we can. Stay alert. In case of emergency call police.
‘We are taking a proactive measure with this warning while investigative processes are carried out.’
The Jewish Institute for National Security of America also revealed this afternoon that there has been an elaborate phishing and hacking scheme by someone purporting to be one of their employees.
Cyber experts determined that the perpetrators were either from Iran’s IRGC or working under the IRGC’s authorization, they said.
It’s unclear if this is the same threat that the FBI alluded to.
