Teenager missing in river overnight after 'failing to resurface' when getting into difficulty as major search launched | The Sun

COPS have launched a major search after a teenage boy went missing in a river overnight.

Police rushed to the scene in Lechlade-on-Thames, Gloucestershire, after emergency calls were made around 10pm yesterday.

Witnesses described seeing a helicopter and officers with torches searching the area near Halfpenny Bridge.

It is understood four children were pulled from the water outside The Riverside pub last night.

Cops say those involved are estimated to be all aged around 17.

They had entered the water to try and find the teenage boy.

Police confirmed they will continue the search for the missing teen today.

Search boats were launched from Lechlade Marina as cops scoured the area.

A boat from Severn Area Rescue Association (SARA) was also sent to the scene but it is unclear if it was used in the search.

A Gloucestershire Police spokesperson said: "Searches have been taking place in the River Thames after a report a teenager was in the water near Lechlade on Thames.
