  • ‘At Home with the Furys’ will follow the boxing superstar’s life outside the ring

Tyson Fury was mobbed by fans yesterday as he was seen filming his new Netflix documentary in Manchester city centre.

The heavyweight boxing superstar is currently shooting scenes for his new 10-part series ‘At Home with the Furys’, which is set to come out next year.

It has been billed by the streaming giant as a chance to see what life is like outside the ring for the WBC heavyweight champion, who has six children with his wife Paris and has been open about his mental health struggles.

When first announced the show was said to give a look at Fury’s post-retirement life, but is now set to focus on his decision to continue fighting amid reports his camp have been trying to thrash out a deal to fight Anthony Joshua.

Pictures show the 34-year-old walking down Deansgate in Manchester with a camera crew and standing outside a hotel ahead before going to a boxing event last night.

Fury made an appearance at the Joe Joyce vs Joseph Parker event in the AO Arena in Manchester last night

Fury was in the city to watch his training partner Joseph Parker fight Brit Joe Joyce in a WBO interim heavyweight title bout at the AO Arena.

He was in the crowd to see Joyce produce a stunning 11th round knockout to overcome the New Zealander and set up a mouther-watering tie with unified WBA,IBF, WBO and IBO champion Oleksandr Usyk.

In a press release last month, Netflix said the show would give people the chance to see what the boxer’s life is like when the gloves come off.

It said:  ‘He’s a two-time heavyweight champion boxer who weighed just one pound at birth, a “Gypsy King” multimillionaire descending from a 200-year line of bare-knuckle fighters, a mental health advocate who openly shares his struggles with bi-polar disorder and a father of six.

‘In other words: Tyson Fury’s life would make a great reality series, and luckily, that’s exactly what fans are going to get.

‘Announced at the Edinburgh TV Festival on Aug. 24, is a multipart documentary series that follows Fury and his family as he retires, embracing family life with his wife, Paris; father, John (who named Fury after legendary boxer Mike Tyson); and six children, Venezuela, Prince John, Prince Tyson, Prince Adonis, Valencia and Athena.

‘The series will give audiences a fly-on-the-wall view of Fury’s inner life at his mansion in Morecambe, England, and his decision to focus on his family, particularly as the boxer has ebbed in and out of retirement for the last several years.

‘Fury fans will get an inside look of what a legendary boxer’s life looks like when the gloves are off: changing diapers, driving the kids to school and finding meaning outside of the ring.

‘Directed by Josh Jacobs and produced by Laura Leigh and Demi Doyle, At Home with the Furys is in production now and is currently set to drop in 2023.’

At Home With The Furys: Streaming giant Netflix announced the news on Wednesday, revealing the show is currently in production and will be a multi-part documentary series

More to come: At Home With The Furys will see Tyson, 34, u-turn on his decision to retire from boxing in April

It is reported filming has been taking place since Fury beat Dillian Whyte at Wembley in April this year, after which he announced he would be leaving the sport.

However, since then Fury has u-turned on his decision to retire and is looking for opponents to fight in December.

A highly-anticipated bout against Anthony Joshua has been on the cards for months, with suggestions a 60/40 purse split had been agreed between the pair and the fight could take place in Cardiff.

However, this looks to be in doubt after Fury gave the former WBA, IBF, WBO and IBF champion an ultimatum telling AJ to sign the contract by tomorrow or he will walk away and find a new opponent.

Speaking at the Joyce vs Parker event, the Gypsy King said: ‘I’m sick of setting deadlines. They either want this poxy fight or they don’t.’

But AJ’s promotor Eddie Hearn claims  Fury’s comments are an attempt to hide the fact that he is instead interested in fighting German heavyweight Mahmoud (formerly Manuel) Charr.

‘The conversations have been decent and are moving in the right direction, but there is a long way to go.’ Hearn told Seconds Out.

Speaking out: The news of the new Netflix show comes after Tyson issued a September 1 deadline for Oleksandr Usyk to organise a unification bout (pictured in April)

Eddie Hearn has hit back at Tyson Fury for setting a deadline for the contract for the proposed fight with Anthony Joshua

Joshua’s team initially said they accepted the contract but Fury says they have been silent

‘Fury wants to fight Manuel Charr, it’s pretty obvious, and the public are not the brightest if they actually think otherwise.’

Although the long-speculated clash between the two best British heavyweights of a generation appeared to have been the closest it has ever been to becoming a reality, Hearn explained that the fight will not take place if Fury’s Monday ultimatum was sincere.

‘I think there is no way this contract gets signed on Monday because there is still a lot to be done,’ Hearn fumed.

‘This fight takes time. We waited 10 days to get the contract… all of a sudden he wants it signed in 24 hours. No chance.’

‘Guess what? The fight isn’t getting signed on Monday. So if you want to walk away from that, while we are all trying to make it – including your promo team – off you go.’

Hearn went on to criticise Fury as he cast huge doubt on the fight going ahead in December.

Asked whether he was leaning towards the eagerly-anticipated bout not happening, Hearn said: ‘Yeah because if he comes out with statements like that…we’ll see.

‘Once again, Tyson Fury has made a statement – “I’m retired, I’m this, I’m giving my purse to the homeless, I am walking away from this fight on Monday”.
