Uncle and nephew beat up McDonald's

Uncle and nephew punched female McDonald’s manager in the face and broke her male colleague’s jaw when they were refused food at drive-thru

  •  The assault left one worker with a broken jaw and not being able to eat solids

An uncle and his nephew were so enraged when they were refused fast food at a McDonald’s drive-thru they battered two managers, a court has heard.

Both Adam Bobrowski and Wiktor Gelewski were furious after they were told they would not be served at the fast food restaurant in Southampton, prompting them to get out of their car and storm inside, launching a vicious assault on the two workers.

The court heard that Borowski walked in and spat in the manager’s face before attacking him.

He suffered from a broken jaw after Bobrowski, 29, put him in a headlock and punched him several times.

His nephew, 19 year old Gelewski, approached a female manager outside, grabbed her from behind then punched her in the face before putting his arm around her neck to try to wrestle her phone out of her hand.

He even tried to steal the woman’s McDonald’s hat at the restaurant, saying it was ‘for the memories’.

Southampton Crown Court heard the male manager of the restaurant was left needing surgery for his broken jaw and had to take 16 weeks off work after the attack.

In a statement read out in court, the man said he has stitches in his bottom lip and around his teeth.

His mouth was ‘incredibly painful’ leaving him on a liquid diet for week. He said: ‘My teeth are now permanently realigned reversing five years of orthodontic treatment.

‘I have no sensation in my gum at the site of the break due to likely nerve damage.’

After his uncle had left the restaurant, Gelewski spotted a female manager outside who had witnessed the attack, the court heard.

The teenager grabbed the woman from behind before punching her, leaving her with painful bruising to her face.

The teenager went to leave, but when he noticed the woman had her phone out he put his arm around her neck to stop her getting away.

He then attempted to wrestle the phone out of her hand, before leaving in a car.

When police caught up with the vehicle, the two men were gone, but the driver gave officers details of both men and they were later arrested.

Having pleaded guilty to assault by beating, wounding or inflicting grievous bodily harm and breaching a community order, Bobrowski, of Southampton, was jailed for 21 months.

Judge Peter Henry told Bobrowski he was a ‘a violent person’ who had caused ‘extremely unpleasant injuries’.

Having pleaded guilty to one count of attempted robbery, Gelewski, of Southampton, was jailed 12 months suspended for two years in a separate court hearing.

He was also ordered to carry out 150 hours unpaid work and pay £750 compensation to the victim.
