We paid £800 for a cute pug – it grew up to be something completely different | The Sun
A DOG lover who thought she had purchased the perfect pug was shocked when she realised that wasn't the case.
Christina Makin posted a video on TikTok nicknaming her pooch a 'pound shop dog' after claiming she had been scammed by the breeder.
Ms Makin uploaded pictures of her beloved pup, Alfie, to social media, with the caption 'When you pay £800 for a pug with papers/KC registered off gumtree'.
The post which has more than 20k views, showed various snaps of the little cream coloured puppy with its distinctive flat nose.
However as Alfie starts to get bigger, it is clear that he is anything but the pedigree pug that she thought she was getting.
He is much larger than the average pug and much longer in the body, very different to how a pug usually looks.

Ms Makin commented on the 17 second clip, and said: "Alfie is coming up to 5 years now.
"I was young and just bought him, but we love him, and bonus is, no health issues."

Others were quick to comment on the post, with one user commenting: "That's very similar to how pugs actually looked the first time they were bred."
Whilst another said: "Deffo a pug x jack Russell I have one and she’s a diamond."
User Sarah, said: "You don’t buy a dog from gumtree you buy from a registered breeder."
Other users commented on how they thought Alfie was 'cute' despite looking like a 'pug from wish'.
Sadly it is quite common for unsuspecting dog lovers to be scammed when buying a dog from breeders online.
Another TikToker @healinghoundz had a similar experience when she thought she was buying a purebred sausage dog.
As she began documenting what she thought was her sausage dog, growing up, the self proclaimed "crazy dog lady" started to notice differences in her precious pooch.
She said that rather than a sausage dog, her pup developed 'a head akin to a Jack Russell Terrier'.
Since 202 pet scams have risen more than 400 percent as crooks target dog lovers looking for a companion.
A reported 1,428 victims lost £614,226 to fraudsters during just three months in 2020.
