William and Kate set for ‘royal smackdown’ with Meghan and Harry during US visit

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry may have worn out their US welcome as they prepare themselves for a "royal smackdown" with the Prince of Wales.

An upcoming trip to the United States for Prince William and Kate Middleton may mark said "royal smackdown" between the Cambridges and Sussexes.

Their first visit to America in eight years will see the Prince of Wales head to the Sussex's domain, a move that will likely see a flare up of woes for the couple, Daily Express reported.

One royal expert, who noted that Will and Kate arrive in the United States tomorrow, said that Meghan and Harry are set to "wear out" their US welcome.

Expert Amanda Lucy Foreman warned that there would be "comparisons" between the couples that could lead to a "royal smackdown of sorts".

She added that the appearance of Will and Kate in the States would lead to "direct, peer-to-peer comparison" of brothers Prince Harry and Prince William, as well as of Meghan and Kate.

Although a royal source has claimed the visit to the States is not an official one for the Prince of Wales and his family, it will see the pair feature at the Earthshot Prize event to present an award.

With the Prince of Wales set to hand out an award, just one week after the Earthshot Prize is given out, Harry and Meghan will be picking up an award of their own.

In a move that expert Foreman described as the pair "wearing out their welcome" and "slipping down the scale" in popularity, the pair will pick up a Robert F Kennedy Ripple of Hope award.

Kerry Kennedy said of the pair: "Few would have the courage to question their colleagues, family and community about the power structure they maintained, and this is what Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have done."

The award was previously given to the likes of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and former Boston Celtics player and civil rights activist Bill Russell.

Harry and Meghan will receive the award on December 4.
