Woman and young boy die after car pulled from pond near RAF base in Cambridgeshire | The Sun

A WOMAN and young boy have died after a car careered into a pond near an RAF base.

Emergency crews were scrambled to the scene near RAF Wittering in Cambridgeshire on Saturday.

A blue Ford Focus was found submerged in a pond on Old Oundle Road.

The woman and child were removed from the car with the little boy rushed to hospital.

He sadly died shortly after, while the woman was declared dead at the scene.

Police do not know how long the car had been in the water.

A spokesperson said: "At about 6.20pm police were called with reports the blue Ford Focus had been spotted in the water next to Old Oundle Road, to the rear of RAF Wittering.

"Police, fire crews and paramedics attended the scene and the woman and child were removed from the vehicle.

"The boy was taken to hospital for treatment, but later died, while the woman died at the scene."
