Briogeo's New Density Collection Was a Game-Changer For My Fine Hair

  • Briogeo recently launched a new density hair care line.
  • The line includes a shampoo, conditioner, and hair serum.
  • One editor tested the products on her fine hair and is sharing her results.

I was not blessed by the hair gods. My hair is fine, frizzy, and dry, and as I’ve gotten older, I’ve noticed that things have only seemed to get worse. It sheds practically nonstop, and there isn’t a day that goes by when I don’t wake up with a pile of errant hairs on my pillowcase. I’ve tried everything from essential oils to supplements, and while I have seen some improvement, I’ve had a hard time remembering to be consistent, which hasn’t been great for my overall results.

When I heard that Briogeo (one of my favorite hair-care brands) was coming out with a line of products aimed toward improving hair density, I knew I wanted to test it out. I’m already a huge fan of the brand’s hair masks and scalp products, so I was excited to test out their new line, which includes a shampoo, conditioner, scalp serum, and hair supplements.

Briogeo Destined For Density Shampoo + Conditioner

The Briogeo Destined for Density Caffeine + Biotin Peptide Shampoo ($32) and the Briogeo Destined for Density Caffeine + Biotin Peptide Density Conditioner ($32) are two new products that claim to make hair thicker and look fuller. The duo is formulated with caffeine to stimulate the scalp, as well as biotin and copper peptides, which can help strengthen the hair follicle. I don’t wash my hair very often, so the type of shampoo and conditioner I use is important to me. I don’t like anything that leaves behind a greasy, weighed down, or straw-like feel.

When I first tested these products, I immediately noticed that the shampoo had a great scent, which was lightweight and reminded me of vanilla. After rinsing, I applied the conditioner through my midlengths and ends and then applied the remainder to the top of my head. I let the conditioner sit for two minutes before rinsing it out. As soon as I got out of the shower and styled my hair, I noticed that everything was more manageable overall. I didn’t have as many knots as usual, and after blow-drying and styling, my hair didn’t feel weighed down or greasy — but extremely soft to the touch.

After consistently using this shampoo and conditioner for a month, I can confirm I’ve started to see results. My hair doesn’t necessarily feel any thicker, but it looks fuller when I check it out in the mirror. I’ve also noticed that I shed a lot less and no longer wake up to clumps of hair on my pillow. Each time after using these products my hair always feels silky smooth and smells amazing, which truthfully is enough to get me to keep using them regularly.

Briogeo Destined For Density MegaStrength Serum

I’ve always been a bit weary of scalp serums because I’ve found that most of them leave my hair feeling greasy after use, but the Briogeo MegaStrength+ Caffeine + Biotin Peptide Density Serum ($57) promises to be lightweight while still boosting hair density. It’s formulated with the same key ingredients as the shampoo and conditioner: caffeine, biotin, and copper peptide.

To test it out, every night before bed I sectioned my hair off and applied one to two drops onto my scalp in each section. Because I’ve noticed a lot of thinning around my temples and upper forehead, I made sure to apply an extra dollop of product in those areas. Once my hair was fairly saturated, I massaged it onto my scalp with my fingers. If I wanted to take things a step further, sometimes I used the Briogeo Scalp Revival Stimulating Therapy Massager ($18). Occasionally I would also apply a few drops in the morning as well if I remembered, but I made sure to use it consistently at night.

The first thing I noticed after using it just one time was that the formula is truly lightweight. It didn’t weigh my hair down at all, and it wasn’t sticky whatsoever. Because it absorbs quickly, I was able to use it at night before bed without having to worry that it would make my hair look or feel gross the next day. The product is fragrance-free, but I did notice a very light smell whenever I used it, but it wasn’t in any way overpowering.

As for the results, while I haven’t noticed anything drastic in the last 30 days, I have seen quite a few baby hairs sprouting up in my middle part (even though quite a few of them were gray — I’ll take what I can get). I also noticed that dandruff and dry flakes I was so used to seeing on my scalp had all but disappeared. I’ve been using it for a full month and I’m almost done with my first bottle, but I used quite a lot of the product since I applied it every night and frequently in the mornings.

Overall, I’m happy with the results I’ve seen from testing this line and I plan on repurchasing and continuing use. I’ve noticed improvements in my hair in just a few short weeks, and I can’t wait to see how this progress in the coming months.
