This $15 Powder Foundation Passed the Sweat Test

  • Maybelline just released a new product for 2023.
  • The Super Stay Up to 24HR Hybrid Powder-Foundation offers medium to full coverage and a matte finish.
  • Our editor tested the foundation for 10 hours straight to see how it holds up.

There’s no better setting to test the longevity of a foundation than a late night out at a concert, and that’s exactly what I did with the new Maybelline Super Stay Up to 24HR Hybrid Powder-Foundation ($15). I got to go to Jingle Ball at Madison Square Garden in New York City with the brand to celebrate the new complexion launch, and to get ready for the big night out, celebrity makeup artist Karina Milan did a full beat starring — you guessed it — the new powder foundation.

To set the stage for you, Milan did my makeup at 3 p.m., then we went to a two-hour dinner before heading to the show, which lasted until 12:30 a.m. And it’s safe to say the foundation held up better than I did after that late of a night: when I was starting to fade (what can I say? I’m an old soul), my makeup didn’t. Keep reading for everything you need to know about the formula, as well as my unfiltered review.

What I Like About the Maybelline Super Stay Up to 24HR Hybrid Powder-Foundation

I have to admit: I was a little surprised I liked the Maybelline Super Stay Up to 24HR Hybrid Powder-Foundation as much as I did, only because I’m not usually a fan of powder foundations. My skin type is on the drier side, and I don’t really get oily, even in my T-zone, so powders usually leave my complexion feeling like the desert. However, I do love the ease of powders when it comes to application and touch-ups.

What I really like about this new Maybelline foundation is the soft-focus matte finish it leaves behind. It almost looks like you have a blur filter on your face while still looking like your real skin. It also feels super lightweight — not the least bit caky or heavy. With its 24-hour wear claim, my makeup looked amazing even after wearing it for 10 hours straight from 3 p.m. to 1 a.m.

How to Use the Maybelline Super Stay Up to 24HR Hybrid Powder-Foundation

There are a few different ways you can use this powder foundation. The first and most obvious option is as a true powdered foundation by applying it all over your face and building it up to achieve your desired coverage level. However, as a minimal-makeup fan, I found it great for targeted coverage in specific areas where I needed it, like around my nose, chin, and undereyes. I also think the formula works beautifully for touch-ups — it layers well over your existing products, gives you additional coverage as needed in areas where your makeup may have faded or smudged, and helps control shine.

What to Consider Before Trying the Maybelline Super Stay Up to 24HR Hybrid Powder-Foundation

Given the many ways you can use the Super Stay Up to 24HR Hybrid Powder-Foundation and its super-affordable price of just $15, this product is definitely worth trying — even if you have dry skin or don’t typically like powder foundations. If your complexion tends to be dry like mine, you’ll want to spend a little extra time on skin prep to ensure your base is deeply hydrated before application. This will help you get a smooth finish and make the foundation feel more comfortable.
