Ailing Oscar winner resurfaces for first time since mysterious 'medical complication,' more news ICYMI

Out and about

For the first time since suffering his mysterious health emergency, Jamie Foxx was been seen in public… several times! The Oscar winner was spotted waving to fans from a boat in the Chicago River on July 9. He later tweeted, “Boat life [fox emoji] Celebrating summer with @brownsugarbbn Stay blessed!” The day prior, Jamie also got in some swings at a local Topgolf driving range. A source told TMZ that Jamie chatted with friends and family while swinging a club. His swing was reportedly “strong.” “He was walking regular, not dragging his leg. His arm movements were definitely good,” the source said. “He was just regular Jamie.” He was also recorded playing pickleball and helping to retrieve a woman’s purse. The actor was hospitalized on April 12 but little is still known about the “medical complication” his family said he experienced.

Getting outta dodge

With her calamitously ineffective partnership with Bud Light still making headlines, trans activist and influencer Dylan Mulvaney fled to Peru because she no longer feels “safe” in America. “I came here to feel something. And I definitely have. I have done shaman ceremonies that were like 10 years worth of therapy, it was wild,” she said of her time in Peru, during which she visited Machu Picchu. “I’ve seen a lot of llamas. The people here are so kind. I feel very safe here. It’s a little sad that I had to leave my country to feel safe but that will get get better eventually.” In her July 11 post from South America, Dylan said she’s “feeling like my own best friend again.”

Troubling interview

Dog the Bounty Hunter went on a homophobic tirade and proclaimed that “Jesus was not a sissy” while on a podcast. On July 11, the reality TV star (real name: Duane Chapman) did an interview with online Christian ministry founder Sharell Barrera. He blamed people who don’t “go out and be the church” for “kids changing their sexuality.” With his wife, Francie Frane, by his side, he added, “For many years, these holy rollers have done just that — rolled around. And you see where they’ve got us now. They’ve got kids changing their sexuality. They talk about tithing more than they do about what’s going on. They’re so wacko themselves that where they have brought us all is to the gates of hell. So we have to stop all that, rebuke them.” Francie and Sharell loudly applauded him. The “Dog’s Most Wanted” star then took shots at businesses that embraced Pride Month. “All these guys that are backing those jokers up are taking billion-dollar beatings, they’re falling,” he said before saying LGBTQ+ people are “lost” and “need to be saved.” In acknowledging that he has LGBTQ+ family members, Dog said, “That’s not the way God made us. He didn’t make Adam and Steve, he made Adam and Eve. So that’s exactly how it is.”

Personal reveal

For the first time in six years, Zayn Malik gave a sit-down interview — and he even shed some light on his private life. The reclusive former One Direction singer spoke about 2-year-old daughter Khai, whom he shares with model Gigi Hadid. “Co-parenting is good, yeah, we have a really good relationship for Khai. She is the main importance. It’s going well, I think,” he said on the July 12 episode of the “Call Her Daddy” podcast. While Gigi is often pictured in big cities like New York and Los Angeles, Zayn has chosen to live off the grid on a farm in Pennsylvania. “[Khai] didn’t choose [fame], that’s why we live here,” he said. “I’m not shielding her from it because she’s going to get to an age where she has a certain amount of awareness and will know what’s going on.”

Healing and postponing tour

Madonna has broken her silence for the first time since her dramatic hospitalization in late June… She also officially postponed her tour until the fall. “Thank you for your positive energy, Prayers and words of healing and encouragement. I have felt your love. I’m on the road to recovery and incredibly grateful for all the blessings in my life,” she penned on Instagram on July 10. “My first thought when I woke up in the hospital was my children. My second thought was that I did not want to disappointment anyone who bought tickets for my tour. I also didn’t want to let down the people who worked tirelessly with me over the last few months to create my show. I hate to disappoint anyone. My focus now is my health and getting stronger and I assure you, I’ll be back with you as soon as I can! The current plan is to reschedule the North American leg of the tour and to begin in October in Europe. I couldn’t be more grateful for your care and support.” The message came one day after Madonna was spotted walking in New York City. It was her first public outing since she became unresponsive and was intubated amid a serious bacterial infection.

Engaged

She said yes! “The Real Housewives of New York City” alum Kelly Killoren Bensimon is engaged to beau Scott Litner after a year of dating. The finance executive proposed to the reality TV star over the Fourth of July holiday during a vacation in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, during a romantic boat ride, Kelly told E! News on July 9. “I was so moved that he brought me to a special place from my childhood to propose,” she said. “I never thought that I could be so happy at this stage in my life, this is truly a new beginning,” the 55-year-old added. “We have a romance that people write novels about.” Scott popped the question with a custom emerald-cut, 5-carat diamond ring from NYC jeweler Material Good.

Legal action

On July 13, Jimmie Allen countersued a woman who accused him of videotaping their sexual encounter without consent. In June, a woman said she met the country singer on an airplane and that they hit it off and began communicating daily. They ended up meeting in Las Vegas. She claimed in a lawsuit that Jimmie filmed their sexual encounter in a hotel room, which she said she did not agree to. In legal docs, Jimmie agreed with her story concerning how they met but he alleged that the woman said she was “fine” with the sexual encounter being filmed. In his countersuit, he further claimed the two had consensual, unprotected sex and that the camera was always in plain view on a shelving unit at the foot of the bed. Jimmie fell asleep after they were intimate. Upon waking up, he noticed that both the woman and his phone were gone. The woman turned the phone over to police and the “Best Shot” singer still doesn’t have it back, Jimmie said. On the same day news of his countersuit emerged, he told People magazine he and his estranged wife are putting on a united front. “The divorce case is still pending, as my wife and I are working to resolve things together as a family,” he said.

Needing support

A judge ruled that Kevin Costner must give his estranged wife, Christine Baumgartner, nearly $130,000 a month in child support — a number much higher than he initially offered and a number significantly lower than what she requested. According to court files, Kevin and Christine will equally split their three children’s health care, extracurricular activity and private school tuition expenses. The Oscar winner has also been ordered to give Christine $200,000 for attorney fees and another $100,000 for forensic costs. Christine, Kevin’s wife of 18 years, initially requested $248,000 per month in child support, but the “Dances With Wolves” actor said he can’t “afford” to fork over that kind of dough. After Kevin offered to pay $52,000 a month in child support, Christine called the amount “completely inappropriate” and equated it to crumbs.
