Amanda Holden pays emotional tribute to her stillborn son Theo in post

Amanda Holden has paid a touching tribute to her son Theo, who was stillborn, as she lit a candle in his memory at the end of Baby Loss Awareness week.

The 51 year old Britain's Got Talent judge's son Theo was heartbreakingly stillborn at 28 weeks in 2011. 

Amanda took to Instagram on Saturday to light a Wave of Light candle, which is a globally recognised event, in which people light candles in honour of baby loss.

Alongside a video of Amanda lighting the candle, which had a lullaby playing over the top, Amanda wrote: "I am honoured you chose us to be your parents for a moment on earth but forever in our hearts ..our angel boy #Theo #waveoflight @tommys Goodnight my angel .. dedicated to you from Mummy x."

Her followers commented on the post, sending her their love, as actress Sarah Parish wrote: "All my love to you darling girl."

Former Pussycat Doll star Ashley Roberts commented: "Love you," whilst Myleene Klass added: "Sending you all my love. x"

In February, Amanda paid tribute to Theo on what would have been his 11th birthday, as she shared an image of his footrints to Instagram.

“You would have been 11 today,” Amanda began her emotional caption.

“I’m still grateful you chose us for your journey .. #Theo,” she added.

Amanda has been very open about the devastating loss of Theo, and she recently got emotional as she discussed the aftermath of losing him, as she said that said that hospital staff didn't necessarily know how to comfort her.

Whilst on her Heart Radio show, she spoke to guest Ross Sullivan about the Aching Arms charity and said: "We lost our baby Theo at 28 weeks, and they very sensitively moved me into another room so I could deliver him without having to hear the lovely babies screaming on a normal ward.

"Often that's not thought about, it's little things like that.

"I remember the lady afterwards as well when we went for a chat also said 'I know you're going home empty handed' is what she said to me.

"So I felt like some sort of game show contestant, so it's all of that language that I know this charity will be helping people to avoid and educate them on how best to deal with something so awful. It's just awful."

She also previously opened up on the loss of Theo as she described "screaming" during the tragedy when speaking in an interview to mark the 70th birthday of the NHS.

She said: "I just remember hearing this woman just screaming and screaming and then it was actually — it was me, I realised it was me that was screaming.

"It was the most surreal, out-of-body experience and I was actually calling my daughter's name because I was just terrified about what to tell Lexi at the time."

Reflecting on her last moments with her son, she recalled: "He looked so normal and so peaceful.

"I held him in my arms and I said goodbye, basically."

Amanda married record producer Chris Hughes in 2008, and the pair share two daughters, Lexi, 16, and Hollie, ten.
