Ashton Kutcher publicly apologises to Harry Styles

‘I feel like a jerk!’: Ashton Kutcher issues a public apology to Harry Styles after extremely awkward encounter

Ashton Kutcher has publicly apologised to hitmaker Harry Styles for an extremely awkward encounter at a mutual friend’s party.

The actor, 44, admitted he had no idea who the former One Direction singer was when they first met – which led to him making some embarrassing remarks.

Kutcher revealed in an interview with Esquire that he and his actress wife Mila Kunis attended their neighbour’s lavish party when the awkward run-in happened.

He explained that he had been left in awe after seeing a partygoer perform ABBA while doing karaoke and felt compelled to go and compliment the performance.

As it turned out the performer was Styles, 29, with Kutcher being none the wiser.

Kutcher recalled: ‘I said “Man, I gotta tell you something. You’re really good, like, really good”.’

To which the singer humbly replied his thanks, saying he ‘appreciated’ the compliment.

To Kutcher’s horror, his friend then informed him that it was a famous singer, with his wife Ms Kunis having to explain that Styles was in fact a big name in the music world and part of former boyband One Direction.

Kutcher recalled: ‘I was like, “Oh my God, now I feel like a jerk” . He’s a professional singer, and we’re trying to tell him he’s a good singer!’

He went on to issue a public apology via the magazine, saying: ‘I just really want to say I’m sorry, Harry Styles. But you’re really good at karaoke, man. Seriously, like really good.’

It comes after Styles was officially added to the growing roster of performers at the 2023 Grammy Awards, due to be held on February 5.

The As It Was hitmaker is nominated for an incredible six awards for his record-breaking album Harry’s House, which was released in May 2022.

Harry’s House is the former One Direction member’s third solo studio album since the boyband went on a ‘permanent hiatus’ in August 2015.

The Don’t Worry Darling actor had the second-largest opening week for an album in 2022, behind Taylor Swift’s Midnights.

He also had four songs from the album on the US Billboard Hot 100 Chart, which makes him the first British solo artist to achieve this.

As It Was sat at number one on the Billboard charts for 15 consecutive weeks, becoming the longest-running US number one by a UK act and the fourth longest-running number-one in the chart’s history.

For the 2023 Grammys, he is nominated for the three most coveted awards; Album Of The Year, Record Of The Year and Song Of The Year.

He’s also nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album, Best Pop Solo Performance and Best Music Video.
