Ben Affleck has finally revealed what wife Jennifer Lopez said to him during a viral tense exchange at the 2023 Grammys in February.

The Oscar winner, 50, whose forlorn expression saw him become a meme on the night,  also told The Hollywood Reporter that he’d ‘had a good time’ – despite a video of J-Lo, 53, snapping at him spreading across social media.

The Gone Girl actor-who recently celebrated a new milestone with the On The Floor hitmaker by purchasing a new $64 million Pacific Palisades mansion-was asked by the interviewer if he was bothered by the meme that was filtering through the internet.

‘No. I had a good time at the Grammys,’ he admitted. ‘My wife was going, and I thought, ‘Well, there’ll be good music. It might be fun.’

At one point during the awards show, Ben recalled, ‘I saw [Grammy host Trevor Noah approach] and I was like, ‘Oh, God.’

THAT Grammys meme: The Oscar winner, 50, whose forlorn expression saw him become a meme on the night, also told The Hollywood Reporter that he’d ‘had a good time’ – despite a video of J-Lo, 53, snapping at him

‘They were framing us in this shot, but I didn’t know they were rolling. I leaned into her and I was like, ‘As soon they start rolling, I’m going to slide away from you and leave you sitting next to Trevor.’

Affleck then revealed his wife’s response, which was, ‘You better f***ing not leave.’ That’s a husband-and-wife thing,’ he jokingly added.

‘I mean, some of it is, I’m like, ‘All right, who is this act?’ Like, I don’t keep up. My wife does, obviously. And yeah, it is your wife’s work event. And I’ve gone to events and been pissed off. I’ve gone and been bored,’ Ben explained.

‘I’ve gone to award shows and been drunk, a bunch. Nobody ever once said I’m drunk. [But at the Grammys] they were like, ‘He’s drunk.’ And I thought, that’s interesting.’

He explained, ‘That raises a whole other thing about whether or not it’s wise to acknowledge addiction because there’s a lot of compassion, but there is still a tremendous stigma, which is often quite inhibiting.’

Ben notably suffered with an addiction battle with alcohol in the past, and has remained sober since 2020. When talking to outlet, he discussed having his battle happen in the public eye.

‘I became, out of no desire of my own, one of the poster boys for actor alcoholism and recovery and the whole thing.’

However, he addressed the positive side to the situation. ‘And the best part about that is that sometimes people call me up and they’re like, ‘Hey, can you help me out?’ And it makes me feel so good to do that.’

What really was said: I leaned into her and I was like, ‘As soon they start rolling, I’m going to slide away from you and leave you sitting next to Trevor,’ prompting his wife to say, ‘You better f***ing not leave’; the couple seen at the 2023 Grammys in February

Ben has been preparing for the release of his upcoming feature titled Air, which also stars pal Matt Damon, Viola Davis, and Jason Bateman. He also revealed that Jennifer had influential involvement when it came to the sports drama.

‘Oh my God, she’s brilliant,’ the star gushed about Lopez. ‘She is incredibly knowledgeable about the way fashion evolves through the culture as a confluence of music, sports, entertainment and dance.’

He continued by adding, ‘She helped me in talking about the way in which a part of the reason why Jordans [the shoes] were so meaningful is because culture and style in America is 90 percent driven by Black culture.’

‘Black culture has historically pioneered music, dance, fashion, and it’s then been stolen, appropriated, remarketed as Elvis or whatever. And in this case, [Nike], a white-run corporate entity, was starting to do business with African American athletes in an identity affiliation sales thing.’

The premise of the movie, which is slated to premiere in theaters next month April 5, follows, ‘the history of shoe salesman Sonny Vaccaro, and how he led Nike in its pursuit of the greatest athlete in the history of basketball: Michael Jordan,’ according to an IMDB synopsis.

Ben not only stars in the film as Phil Knight, the former CEO of Nike, but the feature is also directed by the actor.

He is no stranger to the world behind the camera, and notably directed films such as Argo, earning him an Oscar for Best Picture.

Jennifer was soon brought up again when asked why he did not have an Instagram account, like his wife. ‘My wife’s a genius at that,’ he simply responded.

‘I don’t know if there’s anybody who understands Instagram better than her,’ the star explained, adding that she had given him ‘advice’ before the interview.

‘She thinks that because of experiences that I’ve had, I’ve become very guarded. And she’s right. I view these things as land mines, where if you say one wrong thing, your career might be over,’ Ben stated.

‘I had a really painful experience where I did an interview where I was really vulnerable, and the entire pickup was something that was not only not right, it was actually the opposite of what I meant,’ he recalled to the publication.

Next step: The Gone Girl actor recently celebrated a new milestone with the On The Floor hitmaker by purchasing a new $64 million Pacific Palisades mansion

The actor could possibly be referencing to a 2021 Howard Stern interview where discussed both his alcoholism and the end of his marriage to Jennifer Garner, which he explained had been taken out of context.

‘The idea that I was blaming my wife for my drinking. To be clear, my behavior is my responsibility entirely,’ he stated.

Ben expressed that the point that he had aimed to make at the time was, ‘Anyone who’s been through divorce makes that calculus of, ‘How much do we try?’ We loved each other. We care about each other. We have respect for each other.’

‘I was trying to say, ‘Hey, look, I was drinking too much, and the less happy you become, whether it’s your job, your marriage, it’s just that as your life becomes more difficult, if you’re doing things to fill a hole that aren’t healthy, you’re going to start doing more of those things.’ I think I was pretty articulate about that.’

Jennifer Garner and Ben were married from 2005 until their divorce was finalized in 2018. They share three children, Violet, 17, Seraphina, 14, and Samuel, 11, which Lopez is now the stepmother of.

Upon tying the knot last year, the actor has also become stepfather to JLo’s twins, Max and Emme, 15, whom she shares with ex-husband, Marc Anthony.
