Bling Empire star Anna Shay dies ‘unexpectedly’ aged 62 following a stroke

Bling Empire's Anna Shay has unexpectedly passed way at age 62, her family have announced.

The TV star, who shot to fame after starring in the inaugural season of Bling Empire on Netflix back 2021, died after she suffered from a stroke.

Confirming the tragic news, Anna's family shared a statement to the US publication People, which read: "It saddens our hearts to announce that Anna Shay, a loving mother, grandmother, charismatic star, and our brightest ray of sunshine, has passed away at the early age of 62 from a stroke.

"Anna taught us many life lessons on how not to take life too seriously and to enjoy the finer things. Her impact on our lives will be forever missed but never forgotten."

Anna was the only daughter of the late billionaire businessman Edward Shay and his wife Ai-San Shay, who passed away in 2015.

Since the news of her death was announced, fans have been sharing tributes to the late reality star on social media, with one writing: "Condolences to Anna Shay’s friends and family [white heart emoji] A quirky, generous, wise, and loving soul. We’re all lucky to have gotten to know parts of her on #BlingEmpire"

"Wow. I can’t believe Anna Shay has passed away. She was one of my faves" added another, and a third wrote: "This is so sad. 'Bling Empire' Star Anna Shay Dead from a Stroke at 62. May she rest in peace [broken heart emoji]."

Unlike most reality TV stars, Anna kept a rather low-key social media profile, with her last Instagram post being shared in early December 2022.

Posing with a friend to the side of Christmas tree, Anna had penned the caption: "Wishing everyone happy holiday … May all your dreams come true. And a very special Thank you to all at the Netflix."

In a 2021 interview with People, Anna had shared that she never expected to become a TV star, nor did she expect the show to be a success.

She told the publication: "Did I expect the show to be successful? No. I wasn't even expecting to be in front of the camera.

"I'm very shy and I went along with whatever situation was happening. I was just being me. I think the success of the show has a lot to do with how Netflix, Jeff Jenkins and his production company handled things. It's really thanks to them."
