Brian Dowling pays heartfelt tribute to sister after she acts as surrogate to his baby

Big Brother winner Brian Dowling has paid tribute to his sister, Aoife, after she acted as the surrogate to his adorable newborn daughter.

Brian, 44, confirmed the news via Instagram that he and husband Arthur, 42, have welcomed their daughter, Blake Maria Rose Dowling Gourounlian, to the family on Thursday.

But in the post, Brian paid a special tribute to his sister, who volunteered to be the surrogate mum to Blake – to which Brian and Arthur will be "forever grateful" to.

In a heartfelt tribute, he wrote: "Now, where do we even start with you @effidy_dowling_ you are a SAINT to us & we will FOREVER be GRATEFUL to you for the REST OF OUR LIVES. Baby Blake can’t wait for her Aunty Aoife to spoil her."

Arthur also commented on the post thanking Aoife for her incredible gift to the pair of them. He wrote: "MY HEART IS FULL OF JOY [heart emoji] Blake welcome, we have been waiting for you our entire lives. And @effidy_dowling_ you have given us THE WORLD we will forever owe YOU. Merci."

In the rest of the post, Brian confirmed Blake's name, as well as thanking the woman who donated her eggs, which Brian said was"the gift of life".

He wrote: "Please be upstanding for the arrival of our BEAUTIFUL DAUGHTER Blake Maria Rose Dowling Gourounlian. Yes people another BDG.

"Blake was delivered safely on Thursday September 1st at 14:52pm weighting 7lb 4ozs. We @gourounlian are ABSOLUTELY TOTALLY IN LOVE with her & can’t believe she’s here & is ours.

"None of this would have been possible without our donor, a woman we have never met or even seen a picture of but has given us the GIFT OF LIFE."

Since confirming the news on Saturday, Brian has since posted to his Instagram story reflecting on the new – where the new dad doted on his "perfect" daughter, as well as giving an update on Aoife.

He told his 205,000 followers: "So our news is out and we are so happy, baby Blake is here. We left the hospital yesterday and Aoife checked out today, it's been crazy since we had her on Thursday.

"Nothing really prepares you for parenthood, and it's just as well. She is the perfect baby, she is beautiful, her dark, shiny hair, her perfect little lips. She doesn't like it when you take the bottle out, she's like me with the cocktails, just keep 'em coming.

"I actually can't believe she's here, it's so weird. Especially as we were convinced we were having a baby boy. We were told we were having a baby girl and we were like "say whaaat"."

He then explained how he and his husband came up with Blake's name. He said: "We liked names that could be used for boys or girls, we had the name first. I really liked a good few names and we settled on Blake, and then BDG, Brian Dowling Gourounlian, Blake Dowling Gourounlian. Then Maria Rose because Arthur's mum and my mum.

"She is just perfect in every way. We were in the hospital on Thursday, Arthur and I checked out on Friday, and Aoife left yesterday. Aoife has now gone back to Rathangan, my sisters will be looking after her. We have been on the phone to her the whole time, she is in flying form.

"Aoife has just been phenomenal through all of this."

Blake was born in the National Maternity Hospital in Dublin, with Brian posting a photo of her being held by her two dads shortly after she was delivered, the Mirror reports.

Friends of the couple shared their excitement on the post, also, with Christine McGuinness writing: "Congratulations [heart emoji]."

Una Healy said: "She’s here!! Congratulations [heart emoji] xx".

Kate Thornton added: "Beautiful news! Welcome to the world- you are surrounded by love Blake [heart emoji]."
