Camilla deep in conversation with Love Islands Megan Barton-Hanson

Queen Camilla greeted a whole host of celebrity guests at Buckingham Palace this week

In celebration of International Women’s Day, Queen Camilla, who is also president of the upcoming Women of the World (WoW) festival, greeted everyone from Love Island legends like Megan Barton-Hanson and Happy Valley’s Sarah Lancashire to PM Rishi Sunak’s wife Akshata Murthy.

Queen Camilla, who is expected to drop the “Consort” part of her title after King Charles’s Coronation, was seen chatting away with Megan Barton-Hanson of Love Island this week.

It’s not typical for royals and reality stars to cross paths, but to celebrate International Women’s Day this week, a glitzy reception was held at Buckingham Palace – and a whole host of celebrity names were present.

Megan wore her long blonde locks loose and added a touch of red lipstick to her face, but covered up in a chic long-sleeved black dress for the occasion.

Former Strictly Come Dancing champ Rose Ayling-Ellis, who made show history by becoming the first deaf contestant last year, was also present.

Meanwhile, Happy Valley star Sarah Lancashire was also spotted chatting to Camilla, after the royal seemed to say she had been left gripped by the thrilling finale earlier this year.

Queen Camilla and Megan Barton-Hanson were deep in conversation at the event

There might be 46 years between them in age, but 29-year-old Megan and 75-year-old Queen Camilla looked to be enjoying some quality conversation together.

Megan Barton-Hanson will also appear at an event this week which Camilla is hosting

Queen Camilla is the president of the WoW festival, where Megan will be giving a talk this Friday titled Feminist With Fillers? The Love Island star is expected to discuss female empowerment from her own unique perspective as a TV star turned entrepreneur.

Megan Barton-Hanson showed off her invitation to Buckingham Palace

Megan Barton-Hanson took to Instagram to share the invite she’d received “on her Majesty’s command” to attend the event at the palace in view of her 1.5 million followers.

Queen Camilla also enjoyed the company of Happy Valley heroine Sarah Lancashire

Sarah Lancashire was flattered that Queen Camilla had enjoyed Happy Valley, replying in astonishment: “I’m amazed that you had time to watch.” She gave a dramatic reply about the future of the emotionally intense show, exclaiming that she couldn’t have continued filming further series as “it would’ve killed me”.

Queen Camilla will also be seen at the King’s forthcoming Coronation

The world will be watching as King Charles is crowned at his Coronation in May, and Queen Camilla will be by his side. There is no definitive word, as yet, on whether Prince Harry and wife Meghan Markle will attend, following the news that they have been formally “evicted” from their UK residence, Frogmore Cottage.
