Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas surprise theatre-goers in rare sighting

Catherine Zeta-Jones takes the tube in London

Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas surprised theatre-goers but kept a low profile at the West End show.

The Hollywood couple attended the play, Guys and Dolls, at the Bridge Theatre in London on July 17.

Catherine, 53, and Michael, 78, took pictures backstage with the cast members following the show.

Actor Daniel Mays took to Twitter and posted two photos alongside the married couple – who came to see the show – as the actor bid farewell to the lead role over the next few months.

He wrote: “About Saturday night! It was my last show for a while as I take an extended break playing Nathan Detroit in #GuysAndDolls @_bridgetheatre but I had two incredibly special guests to see me off! Thank you Michael Douglas & Catherine Zeta Jones for coming along. Cherished times.”

Another photo showed Catherine posing alongside the cast as the Wednesday actress looked summer chic in her attire.

The Welsh-born star sported a low-cut black dress with embroidered detail on the billowing sleeves and added platform wedges to elongate her long legs.
