Charlbi Dean's fiance speaks out in after actress dies aged 32

Actress Charlbi Dean’s fiance Luke Volker has spoken out following her death at the age of 32.

The South African star most recently starred alongside Woody Harrelson in Triangle of Sadness, which won the coveted Palme D’or at Cannes Film Festival, and was previously known for her role in the CW series Black Lightning.

She died of a ‘sudden illness’, her family confirmed to TMZ on Tuesday.

Sharing a video on Instagram on Wednesday, Luke said: ‘Hi everyone. I wanted to just post a picture of Charlbi but it’s a bit hard and I wanted to let you know I see all your messages, all the love, and I appreciate it. I really do.

‘I can’t really reply to them right now, but thank you guys. I appreciate it. I love you.’

He had previously attended the Cannes premiere of Triangle of Sadness with her, and just a few months ago, celebrated the film with a sweet Instagram post.

‘3 years later!! Against all odds, almost impossible obstacles, they pulled it off! The film is a masterpiece from top to bottom everyone did a spectacularly job getting it done. I couldn’t be more proud of you my love @charlbi143,’ he wrote.

Ruben Ostlund, who directed Triangle of Sadness, has also spoken out, saying on Instagram: ‘Charlbi’s sudden passing is a shock and a tragedy.

‘It is an honor to have gotten to know and work with her. Charlbi had a care and sensitivity that lifted her colleagues and the entire film crew. The thought that she will not be by our side in the future makes me very sad. At this difficult time, my thoughts go out to her loved ones, her family and her fiance Luke.’

In Triangle of Sadness, Dean starred as model Yaya who, along with boyfriend Carl (Harris Dickinson) navigated the world of high fashion.

Dean was pictured attending the film festival in May with the rest of the cast.
