Charles ‘has to invite Harry and Meghan’ to coronation despite bombshells, claims expert

Royal commentator Emily Andrews has suggested that King Charles will invite Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to his coronation, despite their recent bombshell claims about the Royal Family.

The Duke of Sussex has already hinted that he won't be attending his father's coronation, telling interviewer Tom Bradby: "There’s a lot that can happen between now and then."

Appearing on Good Morning Britain, Emily, who is the former Royal Editor of The Mail on Sunday, argued that Charles would be right to invite Harry and Meghan, both for familial reasons for good PR.

She said: "I think Charles is absolutely right to invite Harry and Meghan, they are still part of the family and there's obviously the familial relationships.

"And we know Charles is a very emotional man. In the book it says that at the end of the Duke of Edinburgh's funeral Charles said 'please don't make my last years a misery'.

"I think that it's just a very sad situation familially but also there's the court of public opinion, the PR. So for the PR, Charles has to invite Harry and Meghan.

"When Harry and Meghan go low, the Royal Family need to go high, and that involves them being there at the coronation."

In both their explosive Netflix documentary and Harry's upcoming memoir, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have made a number of bombshell claims about the Royal Family.

According to an extract of Harry's memoir, Spare, obtained by The Guardian, the Prince alleges that his brother physically attacked him during a row.

The meeting, which was held to discuss the brother's worsening relationship escalated after William referred to Meghan as "rude", "difficult" and "abrasive".

Recalling this he wrote: "It all happened so fast. So very fast. He grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and he knocked me to the floor. I landed on the dog’s bowl, which cracked under my back, the pieces cutting into me."

He then claims that William told him not to tell Meghan about the row, but that he later did tell his wife after she noticed "scrapes and bruises" on his back, according to the extract, which made her "terribly sad".

Harry has also revealed that the memoir's title is in part inspired by a comment his father made following his birth.

Discussing his birth in 1984, Harry writes that after she gave birth, Charles told the late Princess Diana: “Wonderful! Now you’ve given me an heir and a spare – my work is done.”
