Corrie’s Faye Windass star makes huge career change after leaving Weatherfield

Just weeks after bidding the iconic Weatherfield cobbles adieu, Coronation Street’s Ellie Leach seems to have switched things up career wise.

The 22 year old, who from the the age of nine played the role of Faye Windass, recently revealed the new creative project she’s been working on since leaving the soap, and it’s not what you’d think.

Ellie is now actually a jewellery designer after bagging a collaboration with Merseyside based accessories brand, Dorothy & J. The actor has officially released her first very own collection, called The Ellie ‘L’ Bundle, and is available to buy for £45 on the store’s website.

The actor’s own line consists of her own unique designs, including small hoop earrings in gold and silver, complete with different charms. One pair features a sweet pink heart pendant, while two of her other pairs incorporate different lightning bolt pendants.

Upon announcing the collection, the Dorothy & J Instagram shared a reel of Ellie modelling the designs, plus a number of happy customers.

“Our @ellielouiseleach created the best bundle for your upcoming holidays and summer season,” the caption read.

“& for anyone that loves a sprinkle of colour in their life all year around.

“Included is 3 lobe pairs (effectively 4 with a removable charm) and a single cartilage piece. Cartilage piece can vary slightly but always V similar!”

Jewellery designing is definitely worlds away from acting, however, upon announcing her Corrie departure, Ellie revealed she won’t be leaving the entertainment industry for good.

Speaking at the Pride of Manchester Awards last month, the young actor said: “To be honest, I've been working since I was nine-years-old so I'm going to go on holiday for a little bit. I think I'm going to do a little bit of a holiday and just do a little bit of travelling.”

"I don't have a particular dream role [in mind for the future] but I love the leading women roles in a rom-com, or like a rom-com series. I'm literally rom-com obsessed!"

As for Ellie’s Corrie stint, the 22 year old proved herself as a serious actor, and took on many gritty and heart wrenching storylines during her time on the show.

From entering the soap after being adopted by Anna and Eddie Windass to being the victim and perpetrator of bullying, Faye also got in contact and reconciled with her birth father, Tim Metcalfe, and over the years, the two formed a close bond.

Ellie’s character was also at the centre of a teen pregnancy storyline after she gave birth to her daughter, Miley, at the age of 13.

Other plots involved landing herself in prison following the attack of Adam Barlow, and of course, her relationship with Craig Tinker.

Ellie made sure she left the show with a bang, though, and linked up with her fellow co-stars for a night of partying in Manchester.

Including Colson Smith, who plays Craig, and her cousin and ex Corrie actor Brooke Vincent, who played Sophie Webster, Faye captioned the heartfelt tribute: “Finally getting round to posting these pictures from my leaving do, we had so much fun and i’m so lucky to call these people my friends.”
