Damian Lewis distracts viewers at British Grand Prix after ‘butchering’ anthem
How did Damian Lewis end up releasing 'Mission Creep'?
Damian Lewis took to the track to sing God Save The King but his appearance left viewers distracted as some claimed he “butchered” the national anthem.
The British actor, 52, recently released his debut album, the rock and jazz-inflected record, Mission Creep.
He performed with his band live in the paddock at Silverstone on Sunday (9 July) and he later sang the national anthem.
However, his version of the song was not to everyone’s satisfaction, as viewers reacted to his performance on Twitter.
One person tweeted: “Damian Lewis absolutely butchered the National Anthem at the British Grand Prix.”
Another commented: “Damian Lewis singing the National Anthem accompanied by a sax. Since when did F1 get so random?!”
A third wrote: “Damian Lewis what the f*** is this?”
“Not sure what Damian Lewis just did there but I’m pretty sure it counts as high treason,” another person remarked.
