David and Victoria Beckham submit planning permission for new kitchen

EXCLUSIVE Bake it like Beckham! David and Victoria submit planning permission for huge outdoor kitchen at their £6million Cotswolds barn

Since buying their Cotswolds barn six years ago, the Beckhams have spent millions on their grand conversion to create the dream home they call their ‘happy place.’

But their latest addition is likely to be more appealing to their eldest son Brooklyn than former Spice Girl Victoria.

Because the Daily Mail can reveal that they are planning a huge outdoor kitchen in the garden of the home they bought for £6,150,000 in December 2016.

The couple have put in for permission for the stand alone building which will be made out of glass.

It will be good news for Brooklyn 24, who has carved a career out as a chef recently – posting videos of himself making dishes such as fried chicken, Scouse soup and an English breakfast sandwich.

While he has been much ridiculed for his cooking, it is something he is said to take ‘very seriously,’ while David is also a keen chef and often posts hearty meals he has made at the couple’s Oxfordshire home.

Meanwhile, Mrs Beckham, 49, has less of an interest in food with her husband revealing that she only eats grilled fish and vegetables.

An application for permission for the latest enhancement to the lavish property was lodged with West Oxfordshire council this week. Plans show that the kitchen will be surrounded with wild plants and several tables and chairs for guests.

The Beckhams bought the barn in Great Tew, near Chipping Norton when it was just three Grade II listed barns linked in an E-shaped pattern.

At the time it resembled a building site and Mr Beckham spent months renovating along with builders.

However, they have gradually added more facilities, including a football pitch, a spectator stand, an outdoor pool, and a sauna.

It also boasts an enormous garage for the family’s fleet of flashy cars and a motorbikes. And most recently they added a £50,000 safari-style tent to the grounds – which are now estimated to be worth around £12 million.

The lodge is 45ft long and 35ft wide and is said to be made by the Cashmere Caveman Company, owned by Mr Beckham’s close friend, the film director Guy Ritchie.

However, there was some debate over whether it’s fully retractable structure is permanent, and so may need planning permission.

The Beckhams’ home, which they use for weekends and holidays, is a close to the exclusive Soho Farmhouse.

While the family adore spending time there, they were left devastated in October 2018 when a gang of balaclava wearing raiders tried to break into it.
