Doctor Who’s John Barrowman ‘kicked out’ of restaurant

John Barrowman has claimed he was kicked out of a restaurant in Washington yesterday evening, speaking in a video uploaded to social media.

The Doctor Who star, 56, entered the McMenamins Elks Temple in Tacoma when he and his friend were soon supposedly led out without explanation.

He shared with his 480,000 followers a clip of him talking to the camera about his short-lived experience in the restaurant.

The Torchwood actor tweeted the video: “Not a very good impression @mcmenaminsbeer. We were basically escorted out and told politely you can’t eat here. #Tacoma Jb.”

In the 43-second video, he shared that he had “the weirdest thing happen to us”.

He continued: “We’re at McMenamins Elks temple… and basically in a polite way, the gentleman guided us out of one restaurant and took us into another and kind of persuaded us not to come in.”

John then moved the camera to show his friend who claimed that they “kicked us out”.

The actor ended the video: “So Tacoma… not a good recommendation. McMenamins…McNot.”

Fans of the actor found the ordeal strange and commented: “I’m so sorry that this has happened to you John as you’re a legend on the off camera.”(sic)

Another added: “Tacoma resident here. I’m so sorry about that. Not what I’ve heard from locals (haven’t been myself)…but that’s an awful experience.”

One user spoke about their experience at the multi-branch restaurant: “I have gone to so many different @mcmenaminsbeer locations over the years, and honestly have never seen anything like that at any of them. Guess I will cross that location of my list of places to visit.”

The Glasgow-born star also posted the video on Instagram to which the restaurant commented: “Oh no! So sorry to hear this happened! We’ll shoot you a DM and help get to the bottom of this.”

Fans still couldn’t hide the shock as they replied: “Why would you ever escort ANYONE out? Short of them trashing the place, I can’t think of an acceptable reason.”

Another added: “I hope this gets resolved promptly. Wow unbelievable.”

The company describes its restaurants as “a family-owned chain of brewpubs, breweries, music venues, historic hotels, and theater pubs in Oregon and Washington”. (sic)

Founded in 1983, several restaurants are housed in rehabilitated historical properties with nine locations registered on the National Register of Historic Places as the chain aims to “keep the past in the present”.
