Dua Lipa Channels the '70s in a Flamboyant Golden Co-Ord

Dua Lipa’s affinity for sartorially referencing fashion motifs of decades past is well documented—and, in her latest look, she seems to have found her groove.

Today, the “Levitating” singer shared photos on Instagram of an outfit she wore while exploring New Zealand’s Waiheke Island. The outing, which came amid a brief break from her Future Nostalgia Tour, included a yacht ride, oysters, a stop at a winery, and so much fashion.

The Grammy winner wore a golden crochet set from Proenza Schouler’s spring 2023 collection. The co-ord included a long cardigan and flared pants trimmed with bead-embellished metallic fringe. She wore a sparkling gold crescent moon necklace from Marine Serre wrapped around her waist, as a sort of belly chain. For an extra-’70s finish, Lipa opted for amber-framed retro shades by Lu Goldie. Other accessories included gold statement earrings, chunky gold rings, a black iteration of Givenchy’s G-Hobo leather bag, and strappy black sandals.

“Perfect day on Waiheke Island 🦋☁️ ,” the singer captioned the post. “Auckland i’m so excited to see you tomorrow night for our back 2 back shows as the #FutureNostalgiaTour continues!!!! 🇳🇿”

In a 2018 interview with Refinery29, Lipa opened up about her experimental personal style.

“I’ve never really wanted to put myself in a box and say, ‘This is my style and these are my style staples.’ I love to experiment and play around,” she said. “It’s kind of like music: The sound doesn’t just include the face of the artist. And the artist should wear the clothes, not the other way around. Fashion can’t be forced.”
