EastEnders star Ricky Champ shares first sweet pic of baby boy: ‘We’re overjoyed’

EastEnders actor Ricky Champ has exclusively shared the first sweet snap of his baby boy.

The star recently welcomed his second child into the world with his wife Sammy via C-section.

And exclusively telling OK! about their bundle of joy, Ricky, 42, said the pair are “absolutely overjoyed”.

“We’d like to introduce our baby boy. Born 23rd June 2022, absolutely overjoyed. Mum and boy both doing great,” said Ricky as he also shared an adorable picture of his baby boy's feet.

Ricky and Sammy are also parents to a four-year-old daughter, Beatrix.

Sammy’s waters broke two weeks early and she is currently taking medication after having a caesarean.

“Tell me you just had a C-section without telling me you just had a C-section," wrote Sammy alongside a snap of various medications including morphine recently.

Fans of the couple were quick to send their well wishes after they welcomed their baby boy, with one writing: “Congratulations xxx”.

A second added: “Congratulations to a lovely couple xxx.”

The pair announced that they were expecting their second child earlier this year.

Ricky, who plays Stuart Highway on the BBC One soap, took to Instagram to announce the news with a cute picture of an ultrasound alongside a wooden plaque with the words “Baby Champ due July 2022” engraved on it.

Two months after announcing their special news about baby number two, Sammy, who married Ricky in 2016, was admitted to hospital after experiencing some complications in her pregnancy.

She wrote on Instagram: "Not where I planned spending today! Everything's ok with bub, just high blood pressure for me."

And going on to praise the midwives who looked after her, she added: "Southend hospital midwives are amazing. We are so lucky to have the NHS!"

In the picture she posted Sammy could be seen lying on a bed with a monitor on the end of her finger, but thankfully she was soon back in the comfort of her home.

Husband Ricky joined the cast of EastEnders back in 2018, but earlier this year it was revealed the actor is leaving the soap.

Ricky’s on-screen wife Rainie Highway (played by Tanya Franks) also announced her departure earlier this week, while Maddy Hill, who played Nancy Carter, recently left the show for a second time.

Undertaker Stuart has had some huge storylines during his four years on the soap, from struggling with postnatal depression following the birth of his son Roland, to being diagnosed with male breast cancer last year and undergoing an operation.
