Former X Factor winner Matt Terry is now performing on cruise ships

Matt Terry, who won X Factor in 2016, is now showing off his musical skills on the P&O Iona Cruise, entertaining holidaymakers.

Passengers on the cruise had to pay an additional £25-35 to enjoy watching and listening to the X Factor winner's vocals, as well as enjoying a three-course dinner.

During his time on the ITV singing competition, Matt was mentored by Nicole Scherzinger and won praise from Simon Cowell for his vocal talents. Matt took home the crown for the thirteenth series of X Factor with Saara Aalto placing second.

A few years after winning the show, Matt, 29, was dropped by his record label. However, the winner seems to have landed on his feet as he was spotted on a travel vlog performing at The Limelight Club on board the vessel.

The creator behind the Life With Lucy vlog said that Matt was performing and that his voice was “absolutely incredible”.

She also showed a snippet of Matt doing what he does best and belting out a Sam Smith number, also singing his rendition of Stand by Me.

"We had Matt Terry performing, and if you don't know him, he was the winner of X Factor in 2016. His voice is absolutely incredible, and I would definitely recommend seeing him if he is on your cruise," she said.

Matt's fans and followers were excited to see him singing again as he posted a video on his Instagram with a pianist.

One fan commented: "Saw you perform on Britannia last week. You were brilliant”.

Another said: "Omg so good , I love it”, and a third chimed in: “Incredible matt! Glad to see you back creating magic”.

Matt landed a deal with Sony label RCA due to winning the show, however, just a few years later the record label dropped him.

In 2018, Matt told The Sun: "The reaction to my songs has been crazy, they’ve had 60million streams. It’s great but I’m excited to do another album."

He added: “You don’t even really need a label to sell. Fair enough, they plan everything for you, but I can still move forward… onwards and upwards.”

Although Matt never released another album, he soon went into acting and featured as Alex the lion in the UK musical Madagascar.
