Simply en-CHAN-ting! Actress Gemma oozes bridal elegance as she joins glamorous Sara Sampaio and Viola Davis on the red carpet for the premiere of Monster at the 76th annual Cannes Film Festival

Gemma Chan led the glamorous arrivals alongside model Sara Sampaio at the Monster premiere during Cannes Film Festival on Wednesday evening.

The Crazy Rich Asians actress, 40, put on a radiant display as she took to the red carpet during the 76th annual festival ahead of the screening.

Gemma’s white lace high neck gown featured a flowing skirt and cape detailing on the back of the garment.

The screen star added delicate dazzling accessories to her look including a pair of drop earrings and a tennis bracelet.

Meanwhile, Sara, 31, brought a splash of colour to the carpet, as she wowed in a bright orange chiffon gown with a feathered hem.

The stunning garment featured a cut out segment across her midriff and a dramatic train, which followed her down the red carpet.

The supermodel wore her brunette locks slicked back into a chic bun and opted for a bronze pallet of make-up, finishing the look with gold earrings.

They were joined at the photo opportunity by Hollywood actress Viola Davis, 57, who threatened to steal the show in an incredible feathered look.

The Woman King star teamed a simple asymmetric white gown with the oversized feathered coat, which certainly drew eyes as she made her way down the red carpet.

Viola wore her hair in an afro style and showcased her radiant complexion with a dewy coat of make-up, complete with a heavy coverage of eyeshadow and a glossy lip.

She completed the ensemble with a pair of statement earrings. 

The glamorous arrivals were joined by Ethan Hawke, who arrived arm-in-arm with his wife Ryan Shawhughes.

Monster [also known as Kaibutsu] was written and directed by Hirokazu Kore-eda, who received praise for his 2018 film Shoplifters. The film marks his return to a Japanese-language project after he received the Palme D’Or at Cannes that year.

The plot sees a mother [Sakura Andō] confront her son’s teacher after noticing worrying changes in her child’s behaviour. The audience sees the perspective of the mother, teacher and child, before the truth of the story finally emerges.

The films synopsis reads: ‘When her young son Minato starts to behave strangely, his mother feels that there is something wrong. Discovering that a teacher is responsible, she storms into the school demanding to know what’s going on. 

‘But as the story unfolds through the eyes of mother, teacher and child, the truth gradually emerges. Palme d’Or winner and internationally acclaimed director Kore-Eda Hirokazu returns with a delicate, powerfully moving story of love, duty, social conflict and secrets.’

Ethan worked with Hirokazu on The Truth in 2019 so it seems he wanted to show support for his friend at the screening.

Greeting photographers, Jackson, 31, commanded attention in a sweeping black evening dress with a hip-length slash that barely protected her modesty, while fully exposing her legs.
