J.J. Watts Fan Extends Gratitude After He Covers Funeral Costs of Her Grandfather
The Arizona Cardinals defensive end offers a helping hand to a female fan named Jennifer Simpson after she tries to sell her Watt gear on Twitter to afford her grandfather’s funeral.
AceShowbiz -One of J.J. Watt‘s fans couldn’t be more grateful for his act of kindness. After the NFL star paid for her grandfather’s funeral, a woman named Jennifer Simpson turned to Twitter to extend her gratitude.
“Not sure why I have to explain myself. Thank you @JJWatt so much for your generosity and for starting a movement proving the good in the world,” Simspon wrote on the blue-bird app on Friday, July 22. “I’m truly grateful for all of y’all, even those that gave the bad energy.”
Simpson caught Watt’s attention after she tried to sell a pair of shoes for her grandfather’s funeral. “I have a pair of @JJWatt womens edition of Reebok shoes size 9 $60. I’ve worn them twice. They are great shoes, im only selling because we are raising money for my grandpas funeral. I also have a Watt womens XL Texans Jersey $30. Anyone interested?” she penned a few days prior.
Upon learning of the tweet, Watt quote-retweeted it and wrote, “Don’t sell your shoes and jersey, we’ll help with the funeral.” The Arizona Cardinals defensive end then offered condolences, “I’m sorry for your loss.”
“I freaking love you man. It’s been a hard year for me, and this last month has been hard since the death,” Simpson responded back. “I wish I could tell you my story.”
In an interview, Simpson admitted that she “was shaking” after getting a reply from Watt, who reportedly sent her money via PayPal. “Like is this for real?” she exclaimed. “This dude doesn’t even know me.”
“For him to step up and help us, it lifted a burden off of us,” Simpson added. “This is a headline because he’s famous, but hundreds of people have helped us… These people don’t know us or our story… They don’t know what we’ve been going through. It reminds me there is good in the world.”
