Ja Morant Turns to His Christian Faith, Enters Counseling Program After Gun Flashing Incident

According to an ESPN reporter, the NBA star has checked himself into a Florida counseling facility as there is still no clear date on when he’ll return to play.

AceShowbizJa Morant is apparently committed to getting himself clean following a gun incident. The NBA star has reportedly entered a counseling program in Florida amid his suspension by the Memphis Grizzlies.

On Monday, March 13, ESPN reporter Adrian Wojnarowski tweeted that the athlete has checked into a counseling facility while there is still no timetable on his return with his team. “Reporting with @ESPN_MacMahon: Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant has entered a counseling program in Florida and there remains no timetable for his return to active play,” the sports journalist wrote.

In other news related to Ja Morant, he has reportedly turned to his Christian faith following the gun incident. Sources told Media Take Out that the 23-year-old was in church on Sunday and walked humbly to the front of the small church to re-commit himself to Jesus Christ.

A person allegedly close to the Morant family told the news outlet, “Ja grew up in the church, and he knows that any time that he needs strength, he can turn to Jesus.” He was reportedly staying in a small South California town, near where he grew up, to reconnect with his family and his faith before checking himself into the counseling facility.

NBA launched an investigation after Ja Morant was seen in an Instagram Live video displaying a gun at a Colorado nightclub earlier this month. While the Glendale (Co.) Police announced that “there was not enough available evidence to charge anyone with a crime” following their investigation, he was suspended by his team. He was initially suspended for two games, but the team announced on March 8 that he “will continue to remain away from the team for at least the next four games.”

Ja Morant himself has addressed the incident. In a statement, he said that he would “take full responsibility for [his] actions.” The basketball star continued, “I’m sorry to my family, teammates, coaches, fans, partners, the city of Memphis and the entire Grizzlies organization for letting you down. I’m going to take some time away to get help and work on learning better methods of dealing with stress and my overall well-being.”

It was reported earlier this month that he planned to go to rehab to get himself cleaned up from excess alcohol intake. He allegedly has always been an alcoholic, but this year has been adverse.
