Jennifer Hudson and Common are officially in a relationship
EXCLUSIVE: Jennifer Hudson and Common are officially in a relationship after couple jet to the UK and spend romantic weekend together in London
Jennifer Hudson and actor Common are officially dating after the couple travelled to London to watch new musical A Strange Loop.
The US stars are rumoured to have been in a relationship for months but remained coy about a possible romance during interviews, refusing to confirm their status.
But last week they secretly flew into London together for a romantic weekend, which included a visit to the Barbican Theatre on Friday to see the hit new musical.
Jennifer, 41, is one of the five-strong producing team behind the award-winning production, which has been dubbed ‘the new Hamilton’ by critics.
She arrived separately from Common, real name Lonnie Rashid Lynn, and the pair posed for pictures backstage with cast members after the show.

But according to insiders, they were very much together during the evening.
A source said: ‘Jennifer and Common have been trying to keep their relationship low-profile.
‘There has been speculation for months regarding whether or not they are together, but the fact they’ve travelled all the way to London together just shows they’re very much an item.
‘They arrived to the show individually to avoid any commotion but away from prying eyes, they were very much in each other’s company.’
Common, 50, is one of the hottest actors in Hollywood, starring in Netflix series coming-of-age series Never Have I Ever and AppleTV+ sci-fi drama Silo.
He made his name in music, securing the coveted best original song win at the 2015 Golden Globes and Academy Awards for his collaboration with John Legend on the song, Glory featured in the 2014 film Selma.
And he’s previously dated tennis star Serena Williams and actress Tiffany Haddish.
Common and Jennifer have been friends for some time and starred alongside each other in upcoming movie Breathe.

In recent months, they’ve been spotted on dinner dates in Nobu, Malibu.
When quizzed about their relationship on the Today Show last month, Common refused to confirm whether or not they were dating, saying: ‘I’ll say, speaking of Chicago, she’s a Chicagoan, this amazing human being — I’ve always been inspired by her.
‘She’s one of the most beautiful people I ever met on the planet. Incredible heart, and she’s just dope, man.’
Rumours of a relationship went into overdrive in March when Jennifer wished the rapper a happy birthday on Instagram, which many fans believed was some sort of relationship confirmation.
Former The Voice UK coach Jennifer split from her longtime boyfriend, David Otunga in 2017, having dated for a decade. They share 13-year-old son, David Daniel Otunga Jr.
A Strange Loop, written by Michael R. Jackson, became the first musical since hip-hop blockbuster Hamilton to win the lauded Pulitzer Prize for Drama after its Broadway run.
Jennifer co-producers the show alongside Scottish actor Alan Cumming, comedian Ilana Glazer, singer Billy Porter and Mindy Kaling, the writer of Common’s Netflix show Never Have I Ever.

The creative powerhouses were brought together by US theatre producer Barbara Whitman.
The show tells the story of Usher, a young, gay, black writer who dislikes his job, and decides to write a musical about a character, inspired by himself, who is also writing a musical…’a strange loop’.
Usher grapples with desires, identity and instincts he both loves and loathes, all brought to life on stage by a hilarious, straight-talking ensemble.
Speaking about the show, which debuted in London last month, Jennifer said: ‘A Strange Loop is a masterpiece. Michael R. Jackson’s talent and dedication to his craft is truly inspiring, and I am honoured to have watched the incredible Barbican cast bring this story to the London stage.’
The hit show’s 12-week run ends on September 9.
