Jennifer Metcalfe in rare snap with Geordie Shore ex as they celebrate son’s birthday
Hollyoaks actress Jennifer Metcalfe recently took to social media to share a rare photo with her ex-partner from Geordie Shore.
The TV star, known for her role as Mercedes McQueen on the long-running soap, is the mother of six-year-old Daye, whom she shares with Greg Lake.
In 2020, after an eight-year relationship, the Bradford-born actress separated from Daye's father, who gained fame on Geordie Shore.
However, in a rare snapshot posted on social media, the couple came together once again to celebrate their son's birthday.
The photo captures the trio wearing huge smiles as they pose in front of a large illuminated sign displaying Daye's name. Daye is seen proudly wearing his Newcastle United football kit.
In a heartfelt tribute to her little boy, the devoted mother wrote, "Happy birthday to our gorgeous boy. Here's to another year of loving you."
Fans commended the pair for their positive co-parenting relationship, with one person expressing, "That's so nice to have his mom and dad together for his bday, that's how to parent."
Since their split, Jennifer, 38, and Greg have maintained an amicable relationship.
Announcing the news on her Instagram page in August 2020, Jennifer wrote, "Greg and I decided to part ways amicably a couple of months ago.
"We remain friends, and we both will continue to happily co-parent Daye and would appreciate privacy during these times. Thank you to everyone who has supported us before, during, and after this."
In a later interview with Fabulous Magazine, Jennifer revealed her desire to have more children someday, stating, "As long as my parts are still working, I wouldn't rule it out at 50! I've actually always been very keen on adoption, and I'd do that as a single parent."
Addressing the breakdown of her relationship with Greg, she opened up, adding, "I've always loved Greg as a friend, and we get on well. So there was no reason for any of that to change. It's all for Daye, but Greg is a good man.
"Obviously, it's had its ups and downs, but I think when you have two good people who want to do the best for their child, there's no reason for it not to be just that. I'm really proud of how we both parent and put Daye's interests first."
Jennifer emphasised the importance of maintaining a family dynamic for the sake of Daye, stating, "We made a decision from the start that we wanted this to be good for Daye.
"There was no bad energy [at the end], and I don't even like using the phrase 'split up.' We'll never be split; we're a family and always will be.
"I never want us to feel split, for Daye, and I'll do everything I can to make sure of that. It was a case of: 'This is us now, and how do we make this gear change and not have Daye feel it?'"
