John Travolta remembers late wife in tearjerking Mother’s Day tribute

John Travolta, 69, moved countless fans to tears on Mother’s Day as he shared a never-before-seen clip of the late Kelly Preston in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The actress was seen potentially opening presents from a Mother’s Day gone by, as she held a wooden box with large blocks spelling out ‘MOM’ surrounded by blue roses.

Kelly opened the box and a few pictures in custom picture frames could be seen inside, as she exclaimed: “Oh my god!”

She paused for a moment before closing the lid and said: “First I want to hold it like this,” lifting the box to her chest and sharing a mile-wide smile with the camera, undeniably bursting with glee and pride.

Behind the camera, John muttered a quiet “okay” as he followed his wife’s lead.

The Pulp Fiction star wrote on Instagram to his 4.8 million followers: “Happy Mother’s Day Kelly. We miss you and love you! Love, Ben, Ella and John.”

Fans rushed to share their support with the family, with one writing in the comments: “You are so sweet. She is forever your guardian Angel.”

The death of the Jerry Maguire star at the age of 57 took fans by surprise as she had kept her two-year-long battle with breast cancer almost entirely private.

Kelly and John got married in 1991 and welcomed their first son Jett the following year, followed by his sister Ella in 2000.

Tragically, Jett suddenly died when he was 16 while on holiday with his parents and younger sister in the Bahamas after he suffered a seizure.

The year after Jett’s death, Kelly and John welcomed their youngest son Benjamin, 12, who was just nine when his mum died.

Speaking on Kevin Hart’s talk show, Hart to Heart, last year, John revealed that Kelly’s death greatly impacted young Benjamin, as he recalled: “He said to me once, ‘Because mom passed away. I’m afraid you’re going to’.

“I said, ‘Well, it’s a very different thing’.”

The actor noted that his son “loves the truth” so after explaining how Kelly and Jett’s lives had been cut short by tragic, uncommon circumstances, he added: “But you know, Ben … you always love the truth and I’m going to tell you the truth about life.

“Nobody knows when they’re gonna go or when they’re going to stay. I could die tomorrow. You could. Anybody can.

“So let’s look at it like it’s part of life. You just do your best at trying to live the longest you can.'”
