Judi Love’s Love Island verdict: ‘Tyrique is a self-professed player – but at least he’s honest!’

Loose Women favourite, OK! columnist and Love Island fanatic Judi Love has issued her thoughts on the ITVX dating show's ongoing series, predicting that semi-professional football player Tyrique Hyde or entrepreneur Whitney Adebayo will make it to the final and take home their half of the £50k prize.

Writing in her weekly column, the stand-up comedian also predicts former Gogglebox regular Mica Venna will bag the top-spot on the upcoming series of Celebrity MasterChef 2023, has her say on actress Miriam Margoyles' recent British Vogue cover, reflects on her own appearance on the popular Off-Menu podcast and prepares for this year's Windrush Day, which celebrates the anniversary of the Windrush migration.

Love Island lowdown

I usually use my column to predict what’s to come on Love Island, but the producers have made that impossible this year with so many plot twists – I’m here for it though!

There are already some characters who stand out to me as potential winners.

Tyrique is a self-professed player, but at least he’s honest about it.

He tells every girl he likes them but he wants someone to “come in and test” him – he’s barely been in the villa for five minutes!

And I adore Whitney – her facial expressions and one-liners have me in bits.

She’s that friend we all have who gives the best reactions when you’ve got a bit of gossip!

Go, Mica!

The new Celebrity MasterChef line-up has been revealed and I am so excited to see Gogglebox star Mica Venna as one of the competitors.

I’ve seen her rustle up some lovely-looking meals on Instagram, and I can’t wait to see what she brings to the table – literally!

I’m sure it will be delicious and full of vibrancy, just like her.

Cover girl

It was a real pleasure to see actress and all-round funny woman Miriam Margoyles on the cover of British Vogue!

My first thought was, “Wow, look how much fun she’s having.”

But seeing how many people were surprised that an 82-year-old woman could make the cover of a magazine was bittersweet for me.

Are we still living in such an ageist society? I think so!

The celebration of older individuals should be normalised!

There should be more inclusive magazine covers like this going forward.

People may be getting older, but their spirits are still alive and should be celebrated…

Podcasting pals

I recently took part in the Off Menu podcast with James Acaster and Ed Gamble and I haven’t laughed so much in a long time!

Discussing food for an hour and a half, I mean, what a great idea for a show.

It got me thinking what it would be like to have my own comedy podcast – so watch this space…

A day to remember

This Thursday is Windrush Day, a national event that honours the anniversary of the Windrush migration, when in 1948 around 800 passengers from the Caribbean arrived in Britain, to help fill post-war labour shortages.

I took part in filming an upcoming documentary that celebrates some of the pioneers of the Windrush generation, and even though I’ve marked this special day every year, every time I meet someone who was part of the original movement, it makes me so emotional.

It always strikes me as remarkable that it wasn’t all that long ago, and reminds me how blessed I am to have the family and legacy that I do.
