Kathy Griffin spends part of her Easter holiday getting MRI

Kathy Griffin spends the Easter holiday getting an MRI… following series of health concerns including lung cancer diagnosis in 2021

It appears Kathy Griffin is dealing with another medical concern.

On Sunday, the comedian and actress had to spend at least part of her Easter holiday undergoing a medical procedure.

‘Happy Easter???’ she began, with more than a hint of sarcasm, in the caption of an Instagram photo. ‘Getting an MRI.’

While MRIs (Magnetic resonance imaging) are a common procedure to diagnose non-life threatening injuries like torn muscles and ligaments, they are also used to detect more serious heath conditions like tumors and an assortment of ailments that can afflict bodily organs.

And another added concern is Griffin’s lung cancer diagnosis in August 2021, despite not being a smoker, that resulted in her having an operation to remove half of her left lung later that same month.

Health concern: Kathy Griffin, 62, took to her Instagram page to reveal she had to spend part of her Easter in a medical facility getting an MRI

In the social media photo, Griffin can be seen sitting in the medical facility all wrapped up in a white blanket with a black protective mask over her mouth and nose as a precaution.

A number of people, including several celebrities, have since taken to the comment’s section after learning about her visit to a medical facility over the weekend.

Television personality Ross Mathews offered his support by posting, ‘Sending you love!’

Pulp Fiction actress Rosanna Arquette showed her concern by writing, ‘What’s up ? Are you ok. Love you’, while Will & Grace star Debra Messing simply wrote, Honey!’

Oscar-nominated actress Sharon Stone, who’s a breast cancer survivor, showed solidarity with Griffin by revealing: ‘Got mine last week.’

Lizzy Savetsky, a former cast member on The Real Housewives Of New York City, posted, ‘Sending you so much love KG.’

Actor and Glee and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend writer Michael Hitchcock offered a bit of advice to her before she gets under the MRI machine: ‘when the MRI gets really loud pretend you’re in a bangin’ club. Sending love!’ she shared, along with a series of red heart emojis.

Just this past February, Griffin also took to Instagram to reveal she was getting treatment for psoriatic arthritis.

‘Remacaid infusion day for my psoriatic arthritis. Oh boy,’ the 62-year-old wrote in the caption, alongside a photo of her in the hospital wearing a black protective mask over her mouth and nose.

Psoriatic arthritis is a type of arthritis linked with psoriasis, a chronic skin and nail disease. It is similar to rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in symptoms and joint swelling (inflammation), but it tends to affect fewer joints than RA, according to the Johns Hopkins Medicine website.

And a few months earlier, in December she posted video of herself in a hospital, where she was undergoing her ‘2nd vocal cord surgery.’

It turns out she has had to undergo vocal cords surgery after lung cancer treatments affected her speech to the point that she lost her voice, which can be traumatic for anyone but given that she makes her living with her voice, we can only assume it was a very worrisome time for the stand-up comedian.

Griffin took to her Instagram page and confessed she would do ‘anything to get my voice back’ in an emotional video posted just before the procedure.

Back in September the Oak Park, Illinois native revealed she had been working on getting her voice back after her lung cancer treatment.

During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, she had a higher-pitched voice, as a result of the treatments.

‘My voice got some damage,’ said told Kimmel, before showcasing her comedic touch. ‘But I’m fine, it doesn’t hurt… and the important thing is my boobs are still fabulous,’ she said as she shook her chest that elicited cheers from the audience cheer.

Cancer diagnosis: In August 2021, Griffin gave an update on her lung cancer diagnosis

Her voice concerns came in the wake of her year-long recovery after revealing she was diagnosed with stage one lung cancer, despite never having smoked cigarettes.

Within three months of her August 2021 diagnosis, Griffin would be declared cancer free.

She also suffered ‘a bunch of injuries’ when she feel down some stairs during period in her life when she tried to commit suicide.

It happened when she was admittedly addicted to pills following the backlash she received after posing with a bloody effigy of then-President Donald Trump in 2017.

‘I tried to kill myself, and ended up in the psych ward,’ Kathy said during an appearance on The New York Times’ Sway podcast.

She explained that she felt adrift after being ‘canceled’ and losing all of her gigs in the aftermath of the controversy.

Griffin said that her two suicide attempts convinced her to seek help and embrace sobriety.
